The American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ASGCT) is experiencing significant growth and is seeking a talented professional to fill a newly established Manager, Membership Recruitment position. This role has been created to support our evolving business needs and offers the opportunity to contribute to an organization on an exciting growth trajectory.
We are seeking a highly motivated Manager of Membership Recruitment to join our team. In this role, you will build a prospect pipeline and foster relationships with potential stakeholders with the goal of increasing membership and conference participation. You will also support ASGCTs overall membership strategy, outreach and sales efforts, and general membership operations. Reporting to the Director of Membership, this position will play an important part in driving growth and awareness of ASGCT across a rapidly evolving cell and gene therapy industry landscape.
Primary Responsibilities
Membership Recruitment Strategy
- Develop and execute ASGCT's membership recruitment strategy to expand participation across key professional segments.
- Contribute to membership recruitment revenue goals through strategic outreach, relationship development, pipeline management, and cultivation of prospective members and stakeholders.
- Conduct proactive outreach to prospective members through phone, email, events, and other engagement channels.
- Analyze membership, prospect, and registration trends to identify opportunities for improved conversion, expanded reach, and to strengthen ASGCTs membership value proposition.
- Support organizational research initiatives including the Member Census, benchmarking studies, and prospect needs assessments.
- Maintain membership recruitment-related web content, lead-generation forms, and landing pages.
- Manage and expand the Membership Ambassador Program to support peer-to-peer recruitment.
Conference Growth & Attendee Acquisition
- Support conference registration revenue goals through targeted outreach and prospect engagement efforts.
- Implement post-event follow-up strategies to convert non-member attendees into active ASGCT members.
- Monitor attendee acquisition performance and recommend strategies to improve conversion and participation rates.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate pipeline and outreach activity records within the CRM.
- Create and maintain audience segments, reporting tools, IQAs, business objects, and related data resources within iMIS.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of membership growth, recruitment, and conference participation reports and presentations.
Member Service & Organizational Collaboration
- Alongside the Member Services Coordinator and Membership Engagement Manager, provide a high level of customer service for membership and conference-related inquiries.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to develop recruitment messaging, value propositions, promotional campaigns, and prospect-facing collateral.
- Support cross-functional membership initiatives and collaborate with other departments to advance ASGCT strategic objectives.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelors degree.
- 4+ years of related professional experience in membership recruitment, business development, fundraising, donor relations, sales, stakeholder engagement, or a similar revenue-generating role, preferably within a member driving professional association, non-profit organization, or mission driven organization.
- Results driven. Proven success in meeting recruitment, fundraising, sales, membership growth or other revenue related goals while using date-driven insights to define strategies and targets.
- Excellent communication skills. Outgoing, relationship focused and comfortable cultivating and stewarding relationships with a variety of stakeholders, prospects, members, donors, sponsors, and volunteers via phone, text, email, social media and other channels.
- Project and relationship management experience with attention to detail and a technical understanding of CRMs and related communications tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and teams within the organization.
- Ability to travel for up to 2 weeks per year.
