Inside Sales Representative Seafood Distribution

Position Summary
Crocker & Winsor Seafoods is seeking a motivated, results-oriented Inside Sales Representative to join our growing sales team. This position is responsible for generating new business, maintaining and growing existing customer relationships, and contributing to the continued growth of the company. The successful candidate will proactively identify opportunities, develop customer relationships, and provide outstanding service to wholesale distributors and foodservice customers throughout the sales process.
This role requires a highly organized, self-motivated professional who is comfortable making outbound sales calls, managing customer accounts, analyzing sales data, and collaborating with purchasing, logistics, and accounting teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
- Research and identify prospective customers through industry databases, referrals, trade publications, and other lead sources.
- Conduct outbound cold calls, email campaigns, and follow-up communications to generate new business opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified prospects.
- Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate seafood products and solutions.
- Prepare pricing proposals and negotiate sales opportunities.
- Close sales and coordinate onboarding activities with customers and internal departments.
- Achieve and exceed sales goals related to pounds sold, gross revenue, and gross profit.
Account Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
- Identify opportunities to increase sales through product line extensions and cross-selling initiatives.
- Review customer purchasing history and usage trends to identify overlooked opportunities and potential gaps.
- Monitor account activity and conduct monthly sales reviews with assigned customers.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries regarding product availability, pricing, specifications, and delivery schedules.
Product & Market Knowledge
- Develop a thorough understanding of the company's seafood product portfolio, including species, product forms, pack sizes, sourcing regions, and market conditions.
- Stay informed of seafood market trends, seasonal availability, pricing fluctuations, and competitive activity.
- Communicate market intelligence and customer feedback to management.
Operations & Customer Support
- Work closely with purchasing, logistics, and accounting departments to ensure smooth order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
- Understand transportation and logistics requirements to provide effective solutions for customers.
- Assist customers throughout the sales process, including order placement, credit approvals, and delivery coordination.
- Provide backup support to other sales representatives during absences and peak workload periods.
Travel & Customer Engagement
- Participate in occasional customer visits, industry events, and trade shows to strengthen relationships and develop new business opportunities.
- Travel as needed to support account growth and customer engagement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 2 years of sales, account management, customer service, or business development experience.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to make outbound sales calls and effectively manage a sales pipeline.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM/software systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to review customer purchasing trends and identify growth opportunities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- Experience in seafood, foodservice, protein, food distribution, or wholesale distribution industries.
- Knowledge of seafood products, species, and market dynamics.
- Experience selling to distributors, foodservice companies, processors, or retailers.
- Familiarity with inventory-driven sales environments.
