Sample Seamstress/Standard Management Berkshire Blanket and Home Co. is looking for a new member for our Technical Design Team. We are the largest designer and importer of blankets, throws, and soft home decor in the U.S., and we are in search of someone to continue growing with us! Our new Sample Seamstress will enjoy working independently, while actively helping those around them providing samples/finished swatches, building presentations and managing physical standard libraries. They will have a true attention to detail and appreciation for organization. Responsibilities include: * Cutting and surging swatches for customer submission and review. * Cutting and surging swatches for standard library records * Creating fabrication standard records and maintaining library * Creating Color and Pattern standard records and maintaining library * Creating, labeling and maintaining standard color chips for customer presentations * Maintaining excess yardage library * Maintaining shared tracking and request spreadsheets of yardage * Assist in reviewing yardage and strike-offs with the Design Assistant to confirm within standard tolerance * Work directly with the Product Development team and customer/brand Account Managers on needed samples/finished swatches * Support additional sample projects and initiatives as needed * Maintaining and requesting presentation and sample room supplies Requirements for Success: * Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is a must. * Work independently to complete tasks and daily duties * Ability to operate and manage industrial and home sewing machines: Single-needle, Overlock/ Serge Stitch, Coverstitch, etc. * Strong ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Following written and sketch requests * Ability to sit for periods of time with continuous movements of hands, arms & fingers while sewing * Effectively collaborate with internal team members including Design, Product Development & Account Management * Respectfully and clearly communicate directly with overseas vendor(s) Job Type: This is an in-office M-F position, 40hrs weekly Start of this position will be the first week of September in or new Worcester office Are you looking for an interesting new challenge with a great, growing company?
