ABOUT OLANDER The Olander family of companies are a full-line distributor of standard and metric fasteners, including commercial and specialty fasteners, precision hardware, electromechanical components, tools, adhesives, and wire management products. We started off serving Silicon Valley in 1962. Today, we have customers in more than 45 countries. * JOB SUMMARY The Director of Sales & Business Development (DSBD) manages Olander's sales teams (outside and inside sales). This position is responsible for developing strategies and partnerships, identifying new opportunities, building client relationships, and understanding market trends with the overall goal of growing Olander business/revenue year over year. This position requires significant management responsibilities requiring the exercise of independent judgment and discretion. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Business Development * Achieve or exceed sales targets as established by Olander Company management. * Expand relationships with existing Olander Company customers. * Expand usage of products within existing product lines purchased. * Expand usage to additional product lines distributed by The Olander Company. * Maintain relationships with key decision makers. * Develop new customers in emerging markets that align with the Company's vision. * Add and expand new product lines to Olander's offerings. * Provide the CEO with updates on opportunities in emerging markets. * Involve CEO in bigger accounts when necessary. * Identify 5 current key accounts annually with a focus on growing revenue within those targeted accounts. * Act as an advocate for all customer requirements. * Stay up to date on Fastener industry trends and enhance knowledge of Olander products and applications to better solve customer needs. * Provide support to TSMs and ISR teams through joint calls, sales/product training and sales coverage when necessary. * Identify and develop new top level strategic targeted accounts that the DSBD and the CEO can work on together. * Be a representative of Olander at association meetings/conferences/trade shows to foster growth with customers and vendors when asked by the CEO. * Provide updates to the Leadership Team and CEO for help/support of business development goals. * Help establish a plan (with CEO) for annual trade show attendance. Territory Sales Managers (TSMs) Management * Manage the TSMs to generate leads and close new business with a focus on adding new customers to Olander's portfolio to achieve revenue quotas. * Coach/mentor the TSMs and manage their activity by tracking appropriate metrics. Inside Sales Management * Direct the Managers of Inside Sales in the daily operations of the ISR teams ensuring that those managers are performing their job responsibilities effectively. Oversee Olander's Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) product offering and VMI Team with goal of providing an industry leading VMI offering and growing our business in this segment annually. Participate in the annual review of the sales variable pay plans to ensure the sales team is incented properly to grow the business while being paid competitively, fairly and equitably. QUALIFICATIONS * Demonstrated success in previous outside sales and business development assignments. * Seven+ years in positions of team leadership, with experience in managing sales quotas and team performance. * Minimum five years' wholesale distribution experience; fastener industry experience preferred. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal & written), as well as strong presentation skills. * Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage & track multiple priorities. * Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments across the organization to accomplish team goals. * Experience mentoring sales teams and working with/coaching less experienced members on selling, account management and customer relationship skills. * Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, PowerPoint. * Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements. * Travel is required to customer sites and other Olander office locations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Sitting, standing, walking, keyboarding. * Lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds as needed. Pay Salary Range: $150k-$200k DOE This role is eligible for the Company/Team bonus plans. Olander complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and determines compensation based on candidate's qualifications, education, skill set, experience, and internal equity.
