Commercial Auto Insurance Agent - Portsmouth, VA Insurance by the Coastal Agency, LLC is seeking a motivated Commercial Auto Insurance Agent to support and grow our commercial auto book of business. This role is centered on client service, account coordination, and policy management , supporting customers from initial inquiry through renewal. This position is ideal for an insurance professional who enjoys working directly with clients, keeping accounts running smoothly, and playing a key role in the day-to-day success of commercial auto policies. Key Responsibilities: * Serve as a primary point of contact for commercial auto clients and prospects * Follow up on leads and gather underwriting information * Manage new business and renewal intakes * Assist with quoting, policy issuance, endorsements, and renewals * Prepare and issue Certificates of Insurance (COIs) * Process policy changes, cancellations, and updates * Respond to coverage questions and provide ongoing customer support * Maintain accurate client records and documentation * Coordinate with carriers, underwriters, brokers, and internal team members Qualifications: * Active Property & Casualty insurance license (Required) * Commercial auto experience strongly preferred * 5 years of experience in transportation markets strongly preferred * Agency or underwriting experience preferred * Proficiency with carrier portals, AMS/CRM systems, and Microsoft Office * Strong attention to detail and follow-through * Professional phone presence and customer-focused mindset Preferred Skills: * Strong organizational and account management skills * Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines efficiently * Tech-savvy and comfortable learning modern Insurtech platforms * Team oriented, with the ability to work independently when needed - We work with and around heavy equipment, so we are a drug free workplace (including THC).
