Commercial Auto Insurance Agent - Portsmouth, VA Insurance by the Coastal Agency, LLC is seeking a motivated Commercial Auto Insurance Agent to support and grow our commercial auto book of business. This role is centered on client service, account coordination, and policy management , supporting customers from initial inquiry through renewal. This position is ideal for an insurance professional who enjoys working directly with clients, keeping accounts running smoothly, and playing a key role in the day-to-day success of commercial auto policies.

Key Responsibilities

:

• Serve as a primary point of contact for commercial auto clients and prospects
• Follow up on leads and gather underwriting information
• Manage new business and renewal intakes
• Assist with quoting, policy issuance, endorsements, and renewals
• Prepare and issue Certificates of Insurance (COIs)
• Process policy changes, cancellations, and updates
• Respond to coverage questions and provide ongoing customer support
• Maintain accurate client records and documentation
• Coordinate with carriers, underwriters, brokers, and internal team members

Qualifications

:

• Active Property & Casualty insurance license (Required)
• Commercial auto experience strongly preferred
• 5 years of experience in transportation markets strongly preferred
• Agency or underwriting experience preferred
• Proficiency with carrier portals, AMS/CRM systems, and Microsoft Office
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Professional phone presence and customer-focused mindset Preferred Skills:
• Strong organizational and account management skills
• Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines efficiently
• Tech-savvy and comfortable learning modern Insurtech platforms
