This is the BEST ENTRY LEVEL JOB no one knows about that PAYS $120K A YEAR AVERAGE (your first year.) That's because most of the time it's advertised TERRIBLY. Most companies say dumb things like "unlimited income opportunities!" Or "CLOSERS wanted!" - ick. Lol. Here's the truth, I've been doing this personally for 22 years now, and I LOVE IT as much today as the day I started. But I'm kinda weird like that so what do I do? I meet with families at their home and help them design the remodels of their dreams and home improvement projects they need. I'm a design consultant for a local contracting company and we're looking to add 3-4 more people but not just anyone. Here's why. It's not easy your first year, but you WILL make around $120k by the end of your first year. Some make more, but most clear around $120k without too much fuss. The second year is a bit easier because you'll start having repeat and referral business coming in either increasing your earnings, or letting you work fewer days/week. By year 3 you can start making decisions like whether to start earning BIG money (think $200-$300K +) OR, still clearing $100K, but only working 2-3 days a week. (That's the track I've been on for a while and LOVE it.) Also, there's NO limits on how much time off you can take. Just let the scheduler know ahead of time and you can take a month or two to travel abroad (I do that each year during slower winter months). Now, you're asking "ok, what's the catch?" No catch, but let me tell you why some people really struggle with this role. It's a sales centric role. Which means you have to be ok asking for someone's business. You can design the most beautiful projects, with the best solutions, and homeowners can be real dicks once in a while. Sorry, it's true. They'll string you along for all the work you're willing to deliver, just to give the work to the next company on the silver platter you created And you get nothing. Let me explain. This is a commission based role. That's why you have such flexibility with your schedule. You don't get paid to show up and punch a clock - you're paid to produce jobs. That's why you earn as much as you do when you sell a project. A rep on our team last week earned a $12,000 commission on a SINGLE SALE. He only spent about an hour with the customer working up a project, and it was signed and scheduled in just over an hour. Most sales aren't this easy I admit, but they do come along more often than you would think. The average commission is around $2000, and most reps get at least one a week, most get 2, some get 3 or more. Some jobs are bigger and some are smaller, but in the end, you'll carve out the $120K a year without too much trouble. So, here's what you need to be able to do well in this role * You're POSITIVE, a glass half full kind of mindset. - We're not perfect, and we don't hide it. We WORK to improve every day - but we don't want to hear how empty our glass is who does?! Lol. * You're SMART with numbers. Not Einstein level, but financial math and literacy will go a long way to help you find solutions that fit the financial needs of customers. * You're FRIENDLY and make new friends easily. No one wants to do business with people they don't like so be likable. * You're Ambitious and have big enough goals that you'll push through tough days/weeks to achieve them. Which leads me to * You're RESILIENT. There's hard days and weeks in this role. You'll make $10K in a single week, then go two weeks without a single nibble.
