We're hiring a diagnostician whose value is speed to correct diagnosis -- not holding repairs hostage. About the Role Budd & Co. - Rainier is a throughput-driven shop built around car flow, bay velocity, and daily revenue. Diagnostics matter here because: * Wrong decisions cost time * Slow decisions block bays After diagnosis, vehicles are dispatched to the best available technician -- unless you are clearly the best or only person to complete the repair. This Role Is NOT For * Techs who insist on keeping every job they diagnose * Guess-and-replace diagnosticians * Anyone uncomfortable being measured on speed and correctness This Role IS For * Fast, decisive diagnosticians * Techs who diagnose and then move the work forward * People who value shop throughput over job ownership * High producers who hate comebacks and dead bays What You 'll Do * Perform rapid, correct diagnostics (electrical & drivability) * Define a clear repair path quickly * Hand off repairs unless you are the best person to complete them * Keep vehicles moving and bays turning * Support advisors with decisive recommendations How You 're Measured * Time to correct diagnosis * Diagnostic-to-approved repair conversion * Bay turnover / dispatch speed * Comeback rate * Overall shop throughput contribution Tools & Environment * Strong inspection process feeding quality work * Modern scan tools and diagnostic equipment * Advisors trained to move fast once diagnosis is complete * Clean, organized, production-focused shop Compensation * Strong guaranteed base * Diagnostic efficiency & conversion upside * High performers earn above market * No incentive to hoard repairs Requirements * Proven diagnostic ability under time pressure * Electrical and drivability competency * Comfortable releasing repairs after diagnosis * Clear communication with advisors and techs Certifications welcome. Throughput matters more.
