Full description of the position
The Manager, Carrier Sales is responsible for leading and developing a high- performing carrier sales team to build strong relationships with partner carriers, secure capacity, and drive profitable growth. This role combines leadership, coaching, and strategic execution to ensure the team consistently meets and exceeds margin, service, and efficiency goals. Key Responsibilities * Team Leadership & Development * Train, mentor, and motivate carrier sales representatives. * Set daily, weekly, and monthly performance expectations and hold the team accountable. * Provide ongoing coaching to strengthen negotiation skills, market knowledge, and carrier relationship management. * Carrier Procurement * Build, maintain, and expand relationships with core carrier partners. * Negotiate rates, contracts, and service agreements that align with customer expectations and company profitability goals. * Strategically expand carrier networks to increase capacity coverage across key lanes and regions. * Drive execution of margin, load count, and service level goals. * Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and capacity shifts to guide carrier procurement strategies. * Collaborate with customer sales and operations teams to align carrier capacity with customer demand. * Process Improvements * Ensure the team effectively leverages TMS platforms, load boards, and analytics tools. * Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, carrier engagement, and profitability. * Track and report KPIs (margin, coverage, service levels, carrier utilization, etc.) to leadership. Qualifications * 3-5+ years of experience in carrier sales, carrier procurement, or freight brokerage. * 1-3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred. * Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with proven success in driving carrier engagement. * Deep understanding of freight markets, modes, and carrier operations. * Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Education * Bachelor's Degree Additional Requirements * Entrepreneurial, sales-minded, and driven sales representative with a strong work ethic. * Self-motivated individual and driven to be taught and learn resolution skills. * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet performance metrics. * High attention to detail and proven ability to multitask. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
