Sales Associate Job Description POSITION TITLE: Sales Associate REPORTS TO: Sales Manager Mission: As Salesperson, Name is responsible for exceptional performance in selling marine products, producing revenue for the dealership in an ethical and professional manner, while delivering world-class customer service. Sales Associate Agrees to: * Carry out the Superior Boat Repair & Sales Vision Statement. * Maintain commitment to customer satisfaction, quality and integrity and do his/her best to inspire the same commitment in other company members. * Conduct himself/herself in an ethical manner and to report unethical conduct to the General Manager. * Actively participate in personal training and development as offered by the company. * Maintain a level of complete trust, integrity and, as appropriate, confidentiality with customer, vendors, and fellow company members. Sales Associate Daily Duties: * Train diligently to become proficient in all products stocked by Superior Boat Repair & Sales. * Following the dealership's prescribed sales plan, demonstrate and sell marine products. * Following the dealership's prescribed turn-over plan, assure that every customer is turned over to the Finance and Insurance Department (First Approval). * Make yourself familiar with financing so that you may explain them effectively to customers. * Maintain sales levels in all product lines sufficient to meet standards set by the Owner. * Establish and maintain excellent relationships with your customers, assuring 100% customer satisfaction. * Monitor the condition of inventory boats for cleanliness, condition of canvas, etc. Bail covers out, and replace shrink-wrap, as necessary. * Detail boats as required. * Assist with preparation for boat shows, set-up and teardown. * Maintain the dealership's website sales presence. Post ads, videos, inventory, social media, etc. * Maintain a thorough knowledge of marine accessories to facilitate sales of accessories. * Prepare and present marine accessories. * Perform on-water demonstrations of boats and customer deliveries. * Submit paperwork to and obtain approval from the Finance and Insurance department on all finance deals in a timely manner. * Assist the Finance and Insurance department with reworking all deals that are not originally approved. * Check all paperwork for correct title, lien information, taxes, etc. using a comprehensive checklist, ensuring that no customer leaves the dealership with incomplete paperwork. * Work with accounting in a timely, constructive manner on all receivables issues related to your customers. * Maintain a follow-up/lead tracking system whereby all prospects that do not purchase on their first visit are systematically called, tested, emailed or mailed in an attempt to gain their business. * Maintain a follow-up system with your current customers to assure they will purchase their next marine product from the dealership. * Prepare advertisements and mailing lists. * Continually seek out new ways to gain exposure for the dealership, resulting in new customers. Monthly Duties: * Meet with the Sales manager & Owner to review the past month's performance, set goals for the coming month, and accept and offer suggestions for improving your performance. Annually: * As part of the annual performance review, suggest and agree upon a detailed, personal development and training plan for the upcoming year. As Necessary: * Attend sales meetings, actively participating, bringing new ideas, evaluating current performance and continually seeking to improve the dealership's overall sales performance. * If asked, assist the Sales Manager / Owner with the training of new sales personnel. Authority: The Salesperson has no authority over other employees. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Minimum of 2 years sales experience. Excellent computer skills, including a thorough knowledge of social media. Professional appearance. Good verbal and written communication skills. Working Conditions: The Salesperson works on the lot and showroom area. S/he moves around the dealership property in order to wait on customers. S/he stoops, squats, bends, climbs and walks in order to show customers the interior and exteriors of Marine stock. S/he works with a video display terminal daily. S/he is exposed to exhaust fumes daily. Drives personal vehicles and may be required to leave the dealership occasionally to serve customers, and may be asked to travel overnight occasionally for the purpose of training. Behavioral Requirements - In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined above, you must also comply with the company's expectations for courtesy and professional behavior. * When greeting customers and vendors, welcome them with a handshake and treat them cordially. * When meeting a customer in a hallway or doorway, step aside and allow the customer to pass first. If appropriate, hold the door open for the customer. * When observing a customer needing assistance, offer to help. * When speaking on the telephone use a pleasant tone of voice, address the caller by name or as "Mr." or "Ms.", identify yourself, and be helpful and professional. If you do not know the customer's name, use "Ma'am" or "Sir." * When speaking to a customer who is unhappy with the service he or she has received, show your appreciation for the call, verbalize your sympathy and offer an apology. * Use proper language at all times; avoid the use of slang and never use profanity anywhere on dealership property. * Notify the Manager and/or Receptionist when you will be away from your office so that s/he can communicate effectively with callers. * Offer constructive suggestions when observing problem areas of the dealership rather than complain.
