Full description of the position
Job Title: Linehaul Regional Driver Department: Linehaul Reports To: Linehaul Driver Supervisor Location: Grand Prairie, TX SUMMARY: Daylight is seeking a Class A CDL Regional Driver to join our team. This position is responsible for operating various tractor-trailer combinations between company service centers within the Texas region as part of our nightly shuttle network. Regional Drivers will assist with the loading, unloading, and reloading of freight to support efficient cross-dock operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining Daylight as the fastest long-haul LTL in the industry. Schedule: Monday thru Friday with start times being between 8pm and 10pm every night working 8 - 10 hours. Shuttle Runs: Nightly Shuttle Runs to New Braunfels, TX in a DayCab back home everyday. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Safely operate tractor-trailer combinations between company service centers within assigned regional lanes, following all DOT regulations and Daylight safety standards. * Accurately complete all required trip documentation, including logs, manifests, and freight movement reports related to nightly shuttle and cross-dock operations. * Perform drop-and-hook operations and assist with the unloading, reloading, and sorting of freight to ensure timely trailer turns between service centers. Nightly dock work will be a requirement. * Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on tractors and trailers, reporting any defects or maintenance needs in accordance with company policy. * Maintain adherence to Hours-of-Service and equipment inspection standards while optimizing time management during night operations. * Communicate effectively with dispatch, linehaul, and dock personnel to ensure smooth freight flow and on-time service performance. * Exhibit flexibility in adapting to changes in nightly shuttle schedules or lane assignments as dictated by freight volume and service needs. * Operate vehicles exceeding 26,000 lbs GVW, pulling trailers over 10,000 lbs, ensuring secure coupling and adherence to all safety protocols. * Perform all duties in a professional and safety-focused manner, maintaining Daylight's standards for reliability, service, and teamwork. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - None QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - High School diploma or General Education degree (GED) required. At least two-year commercial vehicle or general vehicle driving experience. Possess a valid driver license Class A license. Must be at least 23 years of age. LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. REASONING ABILITY - Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Must possess analytical skills and ability to think quickly. Proficient using GPS and other routing systems, have an innate sense of direction, be disciplined, dependable, and resourceful OTHER SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS - Computer literate, PC; Willingness to engage with the customer and share information with Sales and Dispatch; forklift experience a plus, must be able to have a flexible work schedule in order to meet customer pickup and delivery schedules. Have great customer service, teamwork and organizational attitude.
