Summary Pierce Fire Apparatus Sales Representative - Kansas Territory Location: Kansas (Statewide Territory) Compensation: $100,000 - $200,000+ Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role: Conrad Fire Equipment is seeking a high-caliber, relationship-driven Pierce Fire Apparatus Sales Representative to serve fire departments throughout the state of Kansas. This individual will be responsible for representing the industry-leading Pierce brand, managing long- term customer relationships, and guiding departments through complex, high- value fire apparatus acquisitions. To ensure a seamless transition and deep understanding of our customers, products, and processes, this position includes a 6-12 month shadowing period with the current senior sales representative, who will be retiring. During this time, the incoming rep will accompany the outgoing rep on customer visits, apparatus deliveries, pre- construction meetings, committee consultations, and factory trips to fully learn the territory and Pierce process. This is a high-impact, relationship- focused role ideal for someone who thrives in a consultative sales environment and is ready to build a long-term career representing the top brand in the fire-service industry. Key Responsibilities Territory & Customer Management * Manage and grow the assigned Kansas fire apparatus sales territory , including municipal, combination, and volunteer fire departments. * Conduct frequent in-person visits with chiefs, committees, city administrators, and purchasing teams to understand operational needs and long-term fleet planning. * Maintain strong, ongoing relationships with all major departments and decision makers. * Respond promptly to customer inquiries, requests for information, product demonstrations, and bid opportunities. Sales & Product Expertise * Become an expert in the full Pierce product lineup, including pumpers, aerials, rescue units, custom chassis, and specialized configurations. * Lead the full sales process: discovery, specification development, pricing, proposals, consortium compliance, and closing. * Provide consultative guidance to departments on apparatus design, options, and lifecycle planning. * Deliver professional, accurate, and timely quotes, spec documents, and presentations. * Manage competitive bid responses, consortium contracts (HGAC, Sourcewell), and purchasing processes. Project & Build Management * Attend and lead pre-construction meetings, and final inspections at the Pierce factory. * Work closely with the Conrad Fire Equipment/Pierce team (Sales Ops, Service, Parts, Graphics, etc.) to manage each apparatus from order to delivery. * Coordinate with Pierce to ensure accurate specifications, timely communication, and smooth production processes. * Oversee apparatus deliveries, customer training, documentation hand-off, and follow-up. Marketing, Events & Demonstrations * Plan and coordinate apparatus demos, statewide road shows, and customer engagement events. * Represent Conrad Fire and Pierce at industry events, open houses, regional conferences, and trade shows. * Support marketing initiatives including sponsorship requests, promotional activities, and fleet-planning meetings. Territory Transition & Training Phase * For the first 6-12 months, shadow the retiring sales representative on: * Customer visits across Kansas * Committee meetings & presentations * Spec writing sessions * Factory pre-construction/mid-build/final inspections * Deliveries, trainings, and follow-ups * Gradually assume full responsibility for the territory as the retiring rep transitions out.
