Wanted: Inside Sales / Counter Sales Professional to Meet the Needs of our Customers Evanston Lumber Company ([please apply online] is looking for an inside sales representative (bi-lingual...English/Spanish strongly preferred) to join our well-established and family-owned lumber yard catering primarily to the professional building community. We are growing quickly and need another bright, articulate individual to support our counter sales team. Within this fast-paced environment, you will be providing customer service via e-mail, telephone, and in person by providing information and pricing on products available here at Evanston Lumber. About Evanston Lumber: For almost 75 years, we have been in the business of providing the outstanding service our customers deserve. We stock a large supply of lumber, trim, and other building materials. We also have a Design Center and Showroom able to provide millwork, doors, windows, as well as other hard-to-find items that other places do not carry. We have a professional estimating department to assist on larger projects, and we've made significant investments in current technologies to streamline processes and enhance the customer experience. At Evanston Lumber, we specialize in both commercial and residential work. Counter Sales Professional Job Description: This person will be part of our enthusiastic inside sales team working on the "front line" with heavy customer interaction. He/she will be responsible for: Receiving and writing orders from customers over the phone and providing pricing, product information, and delivery information. Maintaining a thorough understanding of building materials in order to anticipate clients needs, sell solutions, and develop client's trust. Servicing customers at the walk-in counter who may need information or product assistance. Quoting and placing in-stock orders and special orders for customers. Fielding phone and in-person inquiries providing pricing/quotes from established price books and providing product information. Coordinating order scheduling with the customer as well as with yard personnel and with our logistics team. Assisting customers with any problems they may have, and thoroughly communicating with clients. Participating annually in physical inventories Maintaining a "sales" mind frame with each of these points We are consistently seeking ways to meet and exceed our customer's expectations. It is one of the responsibilities of the inside sales representative to look after and build upon the relationships we have developed over the past 75+ years. Our ideal candidate has these qualities: Effective communication skills in order to talk to, and especially listen to, contractors and customers. This is a deadline-driven environment so we require the successful candidate to be able to prioritize and manage their time efficiently. We need to know you can follow through on commitments made to customers and follow up with them often, even if it's just to say "I'll have your answer for you soon." Basic computer skills. Microsoft Office Suite (excel, word, outlook). Point of Sale (POS) systems. Construction background or familiarity would be a plus. Bilingual (English/Spanish) would be a definite plus. Training will be provided. Salary commensurate with experience. Starting pay in the area of $45,000 depending on qualifications, work experience, and skills.
