Full description of the position

POSITION PURPOSE The sales manager is responsible for managing the implementation of the hotel's sales and the development of new business, group and events segments. Strategies will include market mix, pricing, status, direct sales, and outside calls in finding new business for the hotel. Maximize profitability for the hotel and outstanding quality service for the guests and clients. The ideal candidate would be organized, detail oriented, an aggressive outside sales manager, and enjoys working in a team environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Daily solicitations of assigned accounts and of potential new business. * Solicitation calls as part of the "total sales call concept" on behalf of The Westin Richmond in accordance with established standards. * Participate in Lobby Ambassador once a week. * Responsible for soliciting new group room accounts, entertaining and maintaining relationships with existing accounts to meet and exceed group room budget/forecast. * Solicit new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication. * Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance. * Work with other departments within the hotel to provide superior service to guests. * Attend community/social events and industry meetings as required to facilitate business opportunities * Participate in daily stand up meeting, pre and post-convention meetings, training and other sales related meetings as required. * Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and guests/clients. * Able to work extended workweeks and hours, including weekends, as necessary to accommodate a client's needs as well as any functions you are overseeing or managing. * Able to be out of the office weekly with pre-set outside appointments to penetrate new business for the hotel. To meet and exceed all sales goals listed on sales recaps. * Ability to travel, sometimes overnight and multiple days for sales calls and/or tradeshows and other sales related events. * SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities. * Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. * Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process. * Requires exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. * Must possess exceptional computational ability. * Must possess advance computer skills. * Must be aggressive * PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length. * Must be able to exert well-paced ability to work in a busy environment. * Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift 20 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. * Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space. * Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. * Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees. * Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS Education High school or equivalent education required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Experience Minimum2 years of sales experience is required. Requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience in the following systems or equivalent preferred: * Knowland * CITY (or any other Marriott equivalent) * Social Tables * CVENT * Wedding Wire
