Position Summary
The Inside Sales Manager is responsible for leading and developing the Inside Sales team to drive revenue growth, strengthen customer relationships, and support the company's overall sales strategy. This role oversees day-to-day inside sales operations, ensures exceptional customer service, manages account portfolios, and partners closely with operations, purchasing, and logistics to support product availability and order accuracy. The Inside Sales Manager plays a key role in training, performance management, and aligning sales activities with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the Inside Sales team to meet daily, weekly, and monthly sales objectives.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations.
- Develop training programs to improve product knowledge, sales accuracy, and customer service.
- Build a positive, high-performance sales culture rooted in accountability, teamwork, and customer satisfaction. 2. Sales Operations & Account Management
- Oversee inbound and outbound sales activities, ensuring timely responses to customer orders and inquiries.
- Manage key customer accounts and support team members with escalated issues.
- Collaborate with Purchasing to confirm inventory availability and product substitutions when needed.
- Monitor daily order entry, ensure accuracy of pricing, quantities, and product codes.
- Review and approve sales adjustments, credits, and pricing exceptions. 3. Customer Experience & Relationship Management
- Ensure the team delivers excellent service on every customer interaction.
- Maintain strong relationships with distributors, retail stores, restaurants, and other key customers.
- Address customer complaints or delivery concerns and ensure timely resolution.
- Track customer preferences, buying patterns, and feedback to recommend improvements. 4. Reporting, Metrics & Performance Tracking
- Monitor team performance leveraging KPIs such as order accuracy, fill rate, call metrics, retention, and revenue growth.
- Run daily/weekly sales reports and communicate insights to leadership.
- Analyze sales trends, customer data, and product performance to support strategic decisions.
- Assist in forecasting demand and providing purchasing with accurate volume expectations. 5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Operations, Inventory, Purchasing, and Accounts Receivable to ensure customers receive accurate orders, timely delivery, and outstanding service.
- Communicate sales priorities during weekly management meetings.
- Support special projects including promotions, product launches, and seasonal sales planning. 6. Process Improvement
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for the Inside Sales team.
- Identify gaps or inefficiencies in workflows and recommend enhancements.
- Leverage technology (SAP/Sales software/CRM) to streamline operations and increase productivity.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of inside sales or account management experience; at least 1-2 years in a leadership role required.
- Experience in produce, food distribution, logistics, or wholesale preferred. Skills & Competencies

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales reports and trends.

- Ability to work in an office environment with routine use of computers and phones.
- Occasional warehouse walkthroughs to understand product flow and operations. Work Schedule
- Full-time, onsite; some weekends or early-morning hours may be required based on business needs. Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
