JOB TITLE: Founding Market Sales Rep (1099) - C-Store / Liquor / Grocery/ Smoke (Startup Expansion Role) If you've ever wanted to break a new market, make over six figures, and grow into a leadership role, this is that shot. COMPENSATION (1099): * Uncapped commissions with significant upside * Base pay while you ramp * Typical total earnings range: $50,000-$90,000+ per year (performance-based; top performers can exceed this) THE OPPORTUNITY (READ THIS FIRST): This is a founding, startup-style role. We're building our first outpost outside of Southern California, and we're looking for a self-starter who wants more than "a sales job." If you perform, you won't stay a solo rep--you'll become the market leader and can potentially help hire, train, and manage a local sales team as the territory grows. ABOUT US: We're a fast-growing distributor servicing convenience stores, liquor stores, grocery stores, and smoke shops. We sell a curated lineup of high-velocity products with a heavy focus on retail execution and long-term retailer relationships. Our SoCal operation is proven. Now we're expanding--starting with one strong person in-market. WHAT YOU'LL DO (PHASES OF THE ROLE): PHASE 1: BUILD THE MARKET (YOU + THE TERRITORY) * Prospect, pitch, and open new retail accounts through in-person selling * Drive reorder volume and increase placements over time * Become the face of the company in your market--reliable, fast follow-up, trusted vendor * Keep basic pipeline/activity tracking * Coordinate with operations to ensure accounts are supported once orders begin PHASE 2: BECOME THE MARKET LEAD (ADVANCEMENT PATH) * Help define the local playbook: targets, pitch, cadence, and execution standards * Train and coach new reps as we expand headcount * Oversee local performance metrics and maintain quality execution * Grow into "Market Lead / Area Manager" as the team scales WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE: * Consistent new account openings each month * Strong reorder rates and increasing volume per account * Clean reporting and an always-active pipeline * Professional retailer relationships that compound over time * Ability to operate independently and build momentum without constant oversight WHO THIS IS FOR: * You've sold into independent retail (c-store/liquor/smoke/wholesale) or you're a proven closer in a field sales environment * You want ownership and upward mobility--not a capped role * You're comfortable being the "first person on the ground" and building from zero to one * You take pride in process and follow-through, not just charisma REQUIREMENTS (NON-NEGOTIABLE): * 1099 independent contractor (you are responsible for your own taxes/expenses) * Must have your own reliable transportation and a valid driver's license * Must have a smartphone and be comfortable using basic apps/CRM tools * Comfortable working in the field daily (walking into stores, handling rejection, building relationships) * Strong communication skills and professional presence NICE TO HAVE: * DSD/route sales or CPG field sales experience * Existing relationships with independent retailers in your market * Experience building a territory, leading others, or mentoring junior reps WHY THIS ROLE: * First outpost outside of SoCal: you'll be early and visible * Clear path to leadership: perform and you become the market lead * Uncapped commissions + a base floor while you ramp * Real autonomy: run your day, build your book, control your income 1099 NOTE: This is an independent contractor position. You control how you perform the work and manage your schedule. You are responsible for your own transportation, insurance, and tax obligations.
