Title: Associate/Cashier Reports to: Store Manager Classification: Non-exempt Position Description Summary: As a Sales Associate, you are to provide assistance to customers and handle various duties such as operating the POS/cash register, greeting customers, helping customers locate products, doing paperwork, stocking shelves, and maintaining a clean and organized store. Essential Functions of the Job: 1. Provide an enthusiastic greeting to all customers upon their entering the store, or on the phone. 2. Go out of your way to make customers feel important and valued. Give 100% attention to customers. 3. Move quickly to provide fast service. 4. Responsible for the checkout procedures and proper cash handling. 5. Responsible for selling the company's promotions and offers. 6. Be knowledgeable of all store procedures and processes. 7. Responsible for general cleaning duties, i.e., tidying the premises, sweeping and mopping the floor, emptying the trash can, cleaning restrooms, working in walk in coolers and performing other cleaning duties. 8. Responsible for ensuring compliance with product dating, and in particular checking for out-of-date merchandise daily, and tagging specific merchandise with out-of-date codes, as well as items that need to be discarded. 9. While overtime is discouraged, this position may occasionally require overtime, which must be approved in advance by your supervisor. 10. Demonstrate good cash handling skills. 11. Be at work and on time for scheduled shift. 12. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Great Customer Service Skills 2. Good math skills 3. Ability to work a regular schedule (including weekends & holidays) with ability to be flexible when circumstances require schedule adaptations. 12. The ability to multi-task, perform repeated bending, standing, and reaching, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. 13. Ability to perform tasks with little or no supervision Basic Qualifications: 1. High School Education or GED equivalent 2. 6 months customer service, retail experience, and/or other related fields required 3. Must be at least 21 years of age 4. Willing to obtain certifications required by state regarding food service, alcohol and tobacco sales 5. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States 6.
