Position Overview The Farmer's Market Salesperson is responsible for representing Old Town Baking Company at local farmer's markets and community events by selling and promoting our baked goods directly to customers. This role requires excellent customer service skills, strong product knowledge, and the ability to build lasting customer relationships. The Salesperson handles booth setup and breakdown, manages cash and credit card transactions, tracks inventory, and maintains product presentation standards. Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities Reports to: Plant Manager Supervisory Responsibilities: None Job Responsibilities * Greet customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, knowledgeable service. * Set up and break down sales booths, including tents, tables, displays, and product signage. * Transport products, equipment, and supplies safely to and from farmer's market locations. * Handle cash, credit card, and mobile payment transactions accurately. * Monitor, record, and report sales, expenses, and inventory levels daily. * Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing product displays. * Proactively promote Old Town Baking Company products, including sharing brand history and product details. * Follow food safety, handling, and hygiene practices at all times. * Track and manage unsold inventory and returns. * Provide customer feedback to the Sales Manager and recommend improvements for market operations. * Ensure compliance with local regulations and farmer's market rules. * Assist in special events, holiday markets, and promotional activities as scheduled. * Perform other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Minimum of 1 year of sales, retail, or customer service experience. * Valid CA driver's license and reliable transportation. * Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. * Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. * Strong organizational and cash-handling skills. * Self-motivated, dependable, and comfortable working independently. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Previous experience in food sales, farmers markets, or bakery/pastry products. * Knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling procedures. * Passion for customer engagement. * Familiarity with point-of-sale systems. Required Certifications * California Food Handler's Card (must be obtained within 30 days of hire). * Valid CA Driver's License. * Safe Driving Record (company may run DMV report).
