Full description of the position

Position Overview: Planet Granite is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Sales & Design Representative to join our team. This role will primarily involve assisting residential customers who visit our showroom, as well as those who inquire via phone or email. The Sales Representative will work directly with customers to guide them through the process of selecting custom countertops and other accessories for their residential projects. This position requires a combination of customer service, design assistance, technical knowledge, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, sales experience, a passion for stone & design , attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to provide exceptional customer experience. Key Responsibilities: * Customer Interaction & Sales: Assist retail customers (homeowners) in the showroom and via phone/email with selecting natural stone and engineered quartz slabs for custom countertops and other residential projects. Provide guidance and product knowledge on material choices based on the client's design preferences, functionality, and budget. * Showroom Management: Work in both the showroom and outdoor stone yard, engaging with clients in person, by phone, and through email. Ensure the showroom is well-maintained and that materials are displayed attractively and organized. * Product Knowledge & Design Assistance: Leverage your knowledge of stone materials and design trends to help clients make informed decisions about their countertop and project selections. Provide guidance on applications, edge styles, colors, and finishes that align with the client's needs. * Blueprint & Measurement Review: Assist clients with interpreting blueprints, drawings, and cabinet measurements, ensuring that the selected materials fit the specifications of the project. Basic math and geometry skills will be necessary for calculating measurements, quantities, and costs. * Data Gathering & Order Support: Collaborate with clients to collect essential project details, such as structural and design specifications, to support accurate project estimates. Ensure that all project-related data is documented and accurately communicated to the appropriate team for order processing and contract preparation. Assist with the review and clarification of details as needed, and facilitate the contract signing process using digital platforms (Moraware, DocuSign). * Job File Management: Create and maintain accurate job files with approved customer specifications, and hand off necessary details to other departments (e.g., manufacturing) for production. * Customer Service & Follow-Up: Provide exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries, following up on quotes, resolving issues, and keeping clients informed throughout the process. Ensure all client communications are documented and managed efficiently. * Negotiation & Closing Sales: Demonstrate strong negotiation skills to close sales while maintaining a high level of professionalism and ensuring client satisfaction. Achieve and exceed sales goals as set by management. * Customer Outreach & Lead Generation: Proactively engage with potential customers through various channels (phone, email, social media, etc.) to drive traffic to the showroom. Follow up on leads, schedule appointments, and encourage walk-ins by promoting products, special offers, and events. * Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment, follow company safety policies, and always ensure compliance with safety procedures. * Additional Duties: Perform other tasks or special projects as assigned by management, including supporting the showroom team and assisting with special promotions or events. Qualifications & Experience: * Experience: Previous experience in sales, interior designer working in a showroom environment, is highly preferred. Experience with countertop materials, cabinets, flooring. or in the construction industry is a plus. * Skills: * Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients and team members. * Basic math and computer skills, with the ability to use office software (email, spreadsheets, word processing) and data entry systems. * Ability to interpret blueprints and cabinet measurements to ensure accurate material selection. * Attention to detail and the ability to follow through on all aspects of the sales and order process. * Negotiation skills and ability to close sales effectively while maintaining a professional demeanor. * Management of client expectations * Design Sensibility: A strong interest in design and an eye for aesthetics, especially in the context of natural stone and countertops. * Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a showroom and outdoor yard environment, which may require standing, walking, and lifting light to moderate weight. * Schedule: The position is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with one day off during the week and required Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. * Background Check & Drug Testing: All candidates will be required to pass a background check and drug test upon hire. Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour during training period (no commission). After training period, the pay is $15.16 per hour PLUS commission.
