Technical Sales Specialist Our client is a well-established metalworking machine distributor and manufacturer 's representative, supporting a broad range of manufacturing customers across multiple industries. They are seeking to hire a Technical Sales Specialist to take over an established territory covering the eastern portions of North Carolina and South Carolina. This role focuses on working directly with manufacturers to understand production needs and recommend the appropriate machine tools and capital equipment. The ideal candidate will bring experience either working with manufacturers in a technical sales or applications capacity, and/or from within a metal fabrication or machining environment with hands-on knowledge of CNC programming and production equipment. Typical customer industries include Agriculture, Aerospace, Medical, Power Generation, and Automotive , among others. Responsibilities * Retain and grow business with existing customers (authorized dealers and end-user manufacturing customers in the region). * Anticipate and understand customer needs and match them with appropriate products and solutions to improve customer value and sales profit. * Pursue sales leads; visit existing and new customers, assess customer requirements, and recommend appropriate products and services. * Support the full sales life cycle through customer visits, product demonstrations, time studies, and application support activities. * Respond to complex customer inquiries; negotiate pricing and delivery timelines within limits of authority and close sales orders to meet revenue targets. * Establish annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly sales plans; prioritize and schedule activities to meet or exceed targets. * Maintain accurate and detailed sales activity, customer interactions, and opportunities within the CRM system. * The ideal candidate will live between North Carolina and South Carolina. This is a home-based, field role supporting customers throughout the assigned territory. Requirements * Strong technical proficiency in a manufacturing environment where product application solutions are required. * Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating and/or programming CNC machines, including exposure to multi-task turning centers, 5-axis machining, process engineering (tool selection, operation sequencing, documentation), and setup/operation of CNC VMC, HMC, or multi-task turning platforms. * Working knowledge of part processing, metal cutting, CNC programming, blueprint reading, and machine setup. * Interest in developing professionally within a technical sales environment. * Willingness and ability to learn new processes and continue developing sales and customer-facing skills. * Proven ability to communicate professionally with customers, dealers, and internal teams.
