Aegis Asphalt - Eugene, Oregon Full-Time About Aegis Asphalt Aegis Asphalt is a leading asphalt maintenance and paving contractor serving Eugene and the surrounding communities. We specialize in asphalt paving, patching, sealcoating, excavation, striping, and sitework for both residential and commercial clients. Our team takes pride in delivering quality work, honest communication, and long-standing customer relationships. We are growing and looking for a motivated Estimator who can help drive that growth. General Summary The Estimator is responsible for producing accurate, timely estimates and proposals for asphalt paving, maintenance, and small civil/sitework projects. This role includes both estimating and a customer-facing sales component. You'll work closely with clients, project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to deliver clear scopes of work and competitive proposals that align with Aegis Asphalt's quality standards. Duties & Responsibilities * Develop thorough estimates for asphalt paving, patching, sealcoating, excavation, and related sitework projects * Conduct site visits, take measurements, assess project conditions, and interact directly with customers * Review project plans, specifications, and scope requirements for both private and public-sector opportunities * Perform quantity takeoffs and gather supplier and subcontractor quotes * Prepare accurate bids and proposals and ensure all details are complete before submission * Attend pre-bid meetings (as needed) and identify risks, constraints, and cost considerations * Follow up with customers regarding submitted estimates and answer questions as needed * Assist project managers during project hand-off to ensure smooth execution and scope clarity * Build and maintain relationships with customers, subcontractors, and vendors * Support business development efforts and help identify new opportunities Competencies & SkillsTechnical Knowledge * Strong understanding of asphalt paving, site prep, excavation, base rock, drainage, and related civil work * Ability to read plans, drawings, and project specifications * Experience performing accurate takeoffs and cost calculations Interpersonal Skills * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Ability to solve problems and make clear, wellreasoned decisions * Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment * Team-oriented mindset with a focus on customer service Customer Focus * Dedicated to meeting customer expectations and maintaining strong relationships * Able to clearly communicate project options, recommendations, and technical details Computer/Technology Skills * Experience with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid preferred but not required) * Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Office applications * Experience with Bluebeam; familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus Values & Ethics * Honest, dependable, and committed to high-quality work * Takes ownership of decisions and actions * Respects coworkers, customers, and partners * Enjoys working hard and takes initiative Job Type: Full-timePay: $50,000 - $60,000 per year (DOE)Preferred Experience * 1+ year construction estimating experience (asphalt or civil work preferred but not required) Job Type: Full-time Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week Benefits: * 401(k) * 401(k) matching * Health insurance * Professional development assistance * Tuition reimbursement Application Question(s): * what are 3 goals you have for 2026?
