< Company Overview> Short or Tall Eatery & Drink Hall along with Surly Brewing Company Pizza is coming to Grand Forks! We are opening soon on the campus of UND in the new Memorial Village building on the corner of University Ave and Columbia Road. The restaurant will have seating for 300 indoor, 100 outdoor along with several meeting and event spaces in the building. We believe that there will be endless opportunities for catering events on the campus and within the Grand Forks community. < Overview> We're looking for an energetic and personable Director of Sales, Events & Catering to lead our efforts in driving sales and orchestrating unforgettable events. In this role, you'll be the key player in building relationships with clients, planning memorable occasions, and ensuring our guests have outstanding experiences. If you love hospitality, thrive on organization, and enjoy connecting with people, this could be your perfect fit! < Duties> * Develop and execute sales strategies to promote restaurant events, catering services, and special functions. * Build strong relationships with clients through negotiation, upselling, and personalized service to maximize revenue opportunities. * Coordinate event marketing efforts to attract diverse groups and increase bookings. * Oversee event planning from initial inquiry to execution, including menu selection, logistics, and setup. * Manage budgets for events and catering services to ensure profitability while maintaining quality standards. * Collaborate with the culinary team to create customized menus that meet client needs and enhance guest satisfaction. * Ensure all contracts are clear, comprehensive, and signed timely; manage event timelines for smooth operations. * Provide excellent guest services during events by addressing needs promptly and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. * Utilize strong communication skills to liaise between clients, staff, and vendors for seamless event execution. * Implement effective marketing initiatives to promote upcoming events through social media and community outreach. < Qualifications> * Proven experience in restaurant sales, event management, or hospitality roles such as banquet or hotel experience. * Strong negotiation skills combined with a talent for upselling and marketing initiatives. * Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously. * Knowledge of event planning processes including contracts, budgeting, and logistics coordination. * Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly yet professional approach. * Familiarity with catering operations and restaurant or hospitality environments is highly desirable. * Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively within a team setting. * Experience in fundraising or community engagement is a plus but not required.
