Job Description The Sales Engineer | Applications Engineer at Alloy provides pre & post-sales engineering support to determine the most efficient & effective solutions for our customers. From initial concepts to final quotation submissions, the Sales/Application Engineer will use their expertise to ensure that project application engineering and proposals are accurate, well-engineered, and minimize risks. This includes pre-sales onsite work surveying job sites, engineering the correct solution based on the customer's needs, reaching out to vendors to price materials needed, working with field crews & shop leads to develop labor estimates, prioritizing proposals, and reviewing final sales pricing for capital equipment projects. They also work with our design engineering & production teams for post-sales support on ensuring accurate information flow from pre-sales to post-sales reviewing project details with design engineers, onsite start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting when necessary. They will report to the Vice President, Sales as part of the sales group. Responsibilities * Occasional travel to customer locations as necessary for pre-sales engineering to measure, and develop project and equipment needs based on customer's specifications * Prepare project estimates based on engineering knowledge & onsite observations * Reach out to vendors to obtain material and equipment pricing as needed for projects * Utilize CRM software to track and maintain sales opportunities * Sales drawings development including equipment & plant layouts in Solidworks 3d * General application engineering duties such as developing mass balances, utility utilizations, heat transfer calculations, ROI calculations, and more on a per-project basis * Lead Project presentations and proposals with customers onsite at their facility, remote via Zoom, or at shows & conferences * Follow up on customer leads * Generate new customer leads and new customers * Help implement and develop sales processes * Participate in other special projects as needed Requirements * 0-3+ Years of experience as an Applications/Sales Engineer * 4-year engineering degree from an accredited university (Mechanical or Chemical Preferred) * Experience in Solids Works and other 3D modeling software is preferable * Willingness to travel part-time approximately 20-25% * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Proficient in Microsoft office * Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects Key Responsibilities: Pre-Sales Engineering * Conduct occasional travel to customer sites for surveys, measurements, and needs assessments. * Prepare technical project estimates based on engineering knowledge and site observations. * Coordinate with vendors to obtain material and equipment pricing. * Develop sales drawings, plant layouts, and equipment models using SolidWorks 3D. * Perform application engineering analyses, including mass balances, utility requirements, heat transfer, and ROI calculations. Sales Process Support * Maintain and track sales opportunities in the CRM system. * Lead project presentations and proposals with customers (onsite, remote, and at industry conferences). * Follow up on leads and assist in generating new customer opportunities. * Support development and refinement of sales processes. Post-Sales Support * Facilitate smooth handoff of project details to design engineering and production teams. * Support project execution, including commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting as needed. * Provide ongoing technical support to ensure customer satisfaction. Special Projects * Participate in company initiatives, process improvements, and strategic projects as assigned.
