Full description of the position

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Sales & Marketing to lead revenue growth in Santa Cruz, one of California's most desirable coastal destinations. This role is responsible for positioning the property to attract high-value leisure travelers, corporate groups, and premium accounts by leveraging the market's unique blend of coastal lifestyle, outdoor recreation, and year-round appeal. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, data-driven sales strategy, and destination-focused storytelling to maximize market share, drive rate growth, and elevate the property's brand presence in a competitive resort market. General Responsibilities: * Conduct and continuously update local market research. * Sell incremental room nights for assigned properties. * Develop and execute each hotel's marketing plan. * Achieve and exceed the revenue targets for the assigned properties. * Assess the market potential and develop new business opportunities while at the same time increasing revenues from existing customers. * Conduct and enhance public and community relations. * Sell Meeting Room and Board Room * Sell Group rooms and/or Meeting space * Catering organization Specific Responsibilities: * Provide the General Manager with a daily end-of-day activity and accomplishments report, highlighting progress toward revenue goals and key sales initiatives. * Achieve and exceed revenue, ADR, and RevPAR objectives across all market segments. * Develop and manage monthly and annual sales forecasts, keeping the General Manager informed of performance, risks, and opportunities to ensure consistent business flow throughout the year. * Plan and execute advertising and marketing initiatives in alignment with General Manager direction and approved budgets for the hotel, meeting and catering spaces, and food & beverage outlets. * Leverage cross-selling opportunities across all Lotus Management, Inc. properties to maximize portfolio-wide revenue. * Maintain a high level of visibility and engagement within the local and regional community to strengthen brand presence and drive demand. * Establish and maintain efficient sales office procedures, ensuring productive use of staff time, accurate account management, and consistent follow-up practices. * Ensure timely and effective follow-up on all sales leads, converting opportunities into confirmed business. * Collaborate with leadership to develop and recommend pricing and rate strategies that support revenue optimization. * Ensure full compliance with the sales and marketing incentive and bonus plan, including accurate tracking and reporting. * Maintain and analyze historical performance and trend data to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning. * Ensure the prompt, professional, and systematic servicing of all accounts, fostering long-term client relationships. * Monitor and analyze competitive activity at both the local and regional levels to identify threats and opportunities. * Develop and manage strategic partnerships with third-party providers, including travel, marketing, and distribution partners. * Continuously review and optimize the hotel's website and third-party distribution channels to maximize visibility, room night production, and revenue. * Represent the hotel and Lotus Management, Inc. by attending and participating in relevant trade shows, industry events, and sales missions to promote assigned properties.
