Position Description: The inside sales/estimator role, serves a vital function in the growth of the Taylor Made Home Solutions division of Taylor Made Wood Solutions. This professional is responsible for accurately calculating the total costs associated with a building project. The importance for accuracy is critical to the profitability of the business as underestimates may cause significant financial losses and overestimates may result in the inability to win bids. Duties & Responsibilities: An estimator is assigned by the sales team to provide accurate, on-time cost and schedule estimates and bids. Interpersonal skills are essential for working with our customers as well as supporting our outside sales team. Our work environment is fast paced and rigorous. You will have opportunities for technical and professional training. Additional duties include: * Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents and maintain estimating library. * You may be required to contact suppliers for quotes, and evaluating quotations, as well as recommending suppliers. * Will report value of all quotations to sales manager on a weekly & monthly basis. * Create monthly reports for sales manager with total value of quotes and conversion rate to purchase order. * Follow up - bid results must be obtained from customer and reported to division manager and estimating administrator for tracking purposes. If bid is awarded, estimator shall conduct a pose-bid review with assigned project manager. Upon completion of project, project manager should conduct direct job cost and labor review with estimator to promote accurate bids in the future. * Attend meetings - estimator will be required to attend pre-bid meetings, weekly estimating meetings and periodic pre-construction meetings. * Utilize a team approach to defining project related task and functions for all assigned project team members. Skills/qualifications: * Confident and effective communicator. Ability to communicate and put in plan words technical information to non-technical clients. Good written communication skills. * Experience - three years' experience in residential and commercial finished carpentry estimating. * Flexible approach to task management / independent thinker / self-starter * Ability to read prints and perform accurate take-offs. * Good organizational skills to prepare complete rational estimates. * Computer skills - spreadsheets and or internal estimating tools.
