Roto-Rooter is seeking a motivated and self-directed Excavation Sales & Field Operations Lead to drive excavation sales while managing the daily activities of a lean, field-based operation in Kankakee. Job Overview This role serves as the hands-on leader for a small satellite location in Kankakee, IL, operating as part of the Champaign branch. The position reports directly to the Champaign Branch Manager and combines excavation-focused outside sales with day-to-day operational oversight of a small team that may include excavation support, plumbing/service technicians, and water restoration crews. Sales responsibility is limited to excavation only, while the role also ensures smooth daily operations, coordination, and high service standards across all service lines. Key Responsibilities: Excavation Sales (Primary Revenue Responsibility) * Conduct in-home and on-site consultations for excavation and trenchless replacement services * Present excavation solutions clearly and professionally * Close excavation sales and meet revenue goals * Maintain accurate sales records and CRM updates Small Location Operations Oversight * Coordinate daily operations for excavation, service technicians, and water restoration crews * Assist with scheduling and job readiness * Monitor job quality, safety, and customer satisfaction Team Leadership & Coordination * Provide guidance and support to a small team * Assist with onboarding and training * Promote accountability and teamwork Reporting & Branch Alignment * Communicate regularly with the Champaign Branch Manager * Ensure compliance with branch policies * Escalate operational or customer issues as needed * Experience selling excavation or trenchless services * Prior experience in a lead, senior, or supervisory role within a field-based operation * Working knowledge of plumbing, excavation, or water restoration operations * Experience working within a satellite or branch-style service model * Basic proficiency with CRM systems and mobile sales tools * Compensation & Benefits* * $40,000 base salary plus uncapped commission (excavation sales only) * Full benefits package * Paid time off and holidays * Company vehicle and fuel allowance EEO Employer: We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, color, sex, gender, age, national origin, veteran status, military status, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law.
