Full description of the position
JOB PURPOSE: _The role of the Sales Engineer - Vessels/Nutsches is to develop and carry out strategies to attract and retain new customers and business in the product areas of Nutsche, vessel and mixer sales and to develop and support his department to carry out these strategies. _ ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: * Regarding Nutsche Filter, Vessel and Mixer inquiries and orders: o Promptly (same day as received) reviews product inquiries from potential customers, phone or electronic, and makes an initial follow-up email/call back o Requests any additional technical/process information if required in initial follow-up. o Participates in conference calls with customers to clarify scope of the project and design specifications. o Travels for face to face meetings, presentations and project discussions with customers, as needed. o Prepares Bill of Materials and costing sheet for equipment quotation. o Prepares formal and budgetary quotations for standard and customized equipment and turnkey systems, spare parts, repair and warranty orders. o Works closely with the Director of Sales to construct a Quotation (Formal or Budgetary) for presentation to the potential customer. All quotations must follow the company procedure for Approvals for special pricing or over $100K price range. o Transmits the Approved Quotation to the potential customer after completing the formal approval procedure. A cover letter/e-mail is to accompany each quote that requests the opportunity for follow-up discussion. o Utilizes the Customer Relationship Management Software (CRM) to track quotation status and provides revised quotations or additional product information if requested. o Acknowledges the receipt of any customer order in a timely fashion. Refers any new or special payment terms, terms of sale, or sales contracts to the CEO, President, or Controller for approval. Acknowledgement should be made within 24 hours of receipt of approval for special terms. o Submits Verbal Order form (if required) for sales entry within 72 hours of order acknowledgement. Works closely with the Production Manager, the Director of Engineering, and the Director of Sales, coordinates timely resolution of customer complaints and warranty issues. * For each custom "non - stock" sales order: o Attends the Sales to Engineering/Production Transfer Meeting o Inquires on the progress of the Design Engineer throughout the duration of the project, especially with respect to schedule, cost, and accuracy. o Initiates some purchase requisitions to expedite project timeline. o Works with vendors/suppliers to obtain OEM discounts and to meet quality goals. o Reviews and submits approval drawings to the customer after engineering completes internal review. o Ensures the critical benchmarks are met. o Advises the CEO/President, Production Manager, Engineering Manager and VP of Sales & Marketing of any problems, issues, or deviations from budget as they arise. This includes any customer requested change order. o Participates in project meetings and activities as required such as equipment testing and inspection, progress meetings, etc. o Participates in weekly production meetings with Engineering, Electrical, QC and Production personnel. * Participates in quarterly sales meetings to forecast sales for company leadership. * Participates at Trade Shows and customer presentations as required. * Serves as Member of the Marketing Committee. * Assists the Technical Salesperson - Vessels and Mixers with Technical issues as requested. * Assists the CEO/President on an as needed basis to meet company objectives. * Total travel less than 10% of year * Performs all above duties in a manner consistent with company policies and procedures. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred Experience and/or Training : ASME pressure vessel fabrication, mixing equipment, solid/liquid separation technology. Technology/Equipment: Software Aptitude : Microsoft Suite, experience with CRM software preferred PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: Ability to sit at a desk or in a conference room for several hours per day. Ability to stand/work in the shop environment at various times daily and monitor projects. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This person will spend the majority of his/her time in a shared office setting, which may at times include background noise.
