Director of Sales - Commercial Construction Location: Houston, Texas Work Model: Hybrid (Houston-based; local & regional travel) Reports To: CEO & CFO Company Overview Alpha Bravo Construction is a Texas-based general contractor with annual revenues exceeding $50 million and a strategic growth plan targeting a $75-$100 million annual backlog. We deliver complex, high-end commercial projects across hospitality, QSR, retail/fuel centers, education, and tenant improvements, while rapidly expanding into industrial facilities (cold storage and logistics) and IT infrastructure (data centers). Our growth is driven by disciplined preconstruction, strong execution, and long-term client relationships. Alpha Bravo is at an inflection point and seeking a senior sales leader to own and scale revenue growth. Role Overview The Director of Sales - Commercial Construction is a senior leadership role responsible for owning company-wide revenue growth and building a scalable, high-performance sales engine. Reporting directly to the CEO and CFO, this role will define and execute Alpha Bravo's go-to-market strategy, close marquee projects, and expand the company into new verticals and markets. This position combines hands-on deal leadership with strategic oversight, working closely with executive leadership, estimating, preconstruction, and operations to ensure sales strategy aligns with delivery capacity and long- term growth objectives. Key Objectives & Success Metrics * Revenue Growth: Drive $20M-$30M+ in awarded contracts annually, supporting a $75M+ company backlog. * Pipeline Health: Maintain a rolling qualified pipeline of $30M-$50M+. * Market Expansion: Establish Alpha Bravo as a preferred GC in industrial (cold storage/logistics) and data center construction. * Sales Infrastructure: Implement disciplined CRM, forecasting, and bid governance systems. * Team Performance: Build and lead a sales organization that consistently meets or exceeds targets. Key Responsibilities Sales Strategy & Leadership * Own and execute the company-wide sales and growth strategy. * Set annual and quarterly revenue targets aligned with operational capacity. * Establish KPIs, forecasting models, and accountability across the sales function. Deal Origination & Closing * Personally lead pursuit and closing of high-value projects ($5M-$25M+), particularly strategic or first-in-vertical opportunities. * Build executive-level relationships with developers, franchise groups, industrial owners, hyperscalers, and public agencies. * Negotiate contracts and pricing strategies in collaboration with executive leadership and estimating. Market & Relationship Development * Build and maintain strong referral networks with architects, engineers, brokers, lenders, and municipal stakeholders. * Pre-position Alpha Bravo for opportunities ahead of formal RFP/RFQ release. * Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and strategic partner meetings. Bid & Preconstruction Oversight * Oversee the bid pipeline and lead go/no-go decisions. * Ensure proposals are competitive, high-quality, and aligned with margin and win-rate targets. * Coordinate closely with estimating, preconstruction, and operations teams. Sales Operations & Team Leadership * Own CRM discipline, pipeline tracking, forecasting accuracy, and reporting. * Deliver regular executive-level sales reports. * Recruit, coach, and manage Business Development Executives and external representatives. Qualifications * 10+ years of experience in construction sales, business development, or AEC leadership. * Proven success closing commercial or industrial projects valued $3M-$25M+. * Experience building or leading sales teams preferred. * Strong understanding of private and public procurement, RFP/RFQ processes, and negotiated work. * Exposure to industrial, logistics, cold storage, or data center projects is a strong plus. * Executive presence with strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills. * Data-driven mindset with comfort owning forecasts and performance metrics. * Entrepreneurial, performance-oriented leader comfortable in a commission-driven environment. * Willingness to travel locally and regionally (valid driver's license required). Compensation & Incentives * Base Salary: UPTO $150,000 per Annum (commensurate with experience). * Commission: Approximately 2% of total contract value on originated and/or closed deals (uncapped). * Leadership Override: Additional incentives tied to team and company performance. * Milestone Bonuses: * $10,000 at $10M awarded * $25,000 at $25M awarded * Accelerators at higher thresholds * On-Target Earnings: $250,000-$350,000+, with significant upside for top performers.
