POSITION OVERVIEW The Technical Sales Product Manager serves as the technical sales liaison for medical power safety and electrical distribution systems, bridging customer requirements with engineering solutions. This position combines technical product knowledge with consultative sales expertise to drive project wins from initial quotation through order closure. The role is primarily office-based with strategic travel for trade shows and high-value project opportunities (up to 20% of the time). Leverages their electrical/technical background to build strong relationships with channel partners and end-user clients throughout the project lifecycle. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Technical Sales & Project Management * Serve as primary technical contact for external customers including independent sales representatives, electrical distributors, contractors, and healthcare facility clients throughout the project bid cycle. * Analyze customer specifications, engineering drawings, and construction documents to determine technical requirements and product configurations. * Develop competitive product quotations with strategic pricing designed to win project opportunities while maintaining margin targets. * Interpret and apply relevant codes, standards, and healthcare facility requirements (NEC, NFPA 99, etc.) to ensure compliant solutions. * Independently resolve moderately complex technical and application questions; coordinate with engineering team on specialized design challenges. Sales Growth & Account Development * Drive revenue growth through proactive follow-up on all open sales opportunities, utilizing multiple strategies to advance deals and secure orders. * Qualify and develop new leads generated by marketing initiatives and channel partner referrals. * Collaborate closely with independent manufacturer's representative network to exceed annual sales goals and expand market penetration. * Identify and pursue strategic opportunities requiring direct sales engagement. * Monitor market conditions, competitive activities, and industry trends to inform sales strategies. Customer Relationship Management * Ensure complete customer satisfaction throughout all stages of the sales process from initial inquiry through order placement. * Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across distributor, contractor, and end-user organizations. * Act as customer advocate internally, coordinating with operations, engineering, and service teams to resolve issues and deliver solutions. * Gather and communicate market feedback to internal teams to drive continuous improvement in products, processes, and customer service. Sales Operations & Collaboration * Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all customer interactions, quotations, and opportunities in CRM system (required for all sales activities). * Work collaboratively with sales, marketing, and cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements. * Participate in trade shows and industry events as technical sales representative (up to 20% travel). * Serve as a customer-facing Subject Matter Expert, including delivering Lunch-and-Learn presentations to engineering firms and industry partners. * Contribute to development of sales tools, technical resources, and market positioning strategies. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience * Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related technical field preferred. * 5+ years of experience in technical sales, sales project management, or application engineering within construction, electrical systems, or related industries. * Foundational knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, and/or medical facility requirements. * Documented track record of achieving or exceeding sales goals and revenue targets. Technical Competencies * Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. * Working knowledge of relevant electrical codes and healthcare facility standards (NEC, NFPA 99). * Understanding of construction project workflows, bid processes, and stakeholder roles. * Proficiency in translating customer requirements into technical solutions and product configurations. Sales & Business Skills * Proven ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans and pricing strategies. * Strong consultative selling skills with technical product focus. * Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building abilities across diverse stakeholder groups. * Demonstrated success working with distributor networks and channel partners. * Experience managing complex sales cycles with multiple decision-makers. Technology & Systems * Working knowledge of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems required; must consistently document all sales activities, customer interactions, and opportunity progression to maintain accurate pipeline forecasting. * Proficiency with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems for order processing and product information. * Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) for proposal development, analysis, and communication. Professional Skills * Comfort with public speaking and presenting technical content to professional audiences. * Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for customer interaction, proposal writing, and internal collaboration. * Superior attention to detail in quotation development, technical specifications, and documentation. * Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. * Self-motivated with results-oriented mindset and drive to achieve goals. * Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to team objectives.
