Full description of the position

Title: Sales Application Engineer Summary The Sales Application Engineer is a technical sales role that is a critical part of the corporation's opportunity management strategy and a crucial element of the Sales Team's ability to engage with our customers on their application challenges. This position regularly engages and influences internal and external stakeholders to provide customers with problem-solving solutions, offer exceptional technical sales support, and propose product ideas rooted in customer insights, while retaining ultimate accountability for managing and winning profitable Sales Opportunities at their assigned customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Lead the documentation, maintenance, and execution of Sales Opportunities with a focus on winning. * Champion behaviors or actions that increase profitable Sales Opportunity "wins" with respect, logic, and data in-hand, while challenging internal stakeholders or Technical Sales colleagues as appropriate. * Leverage opportunity prioritization tools and time management skills to effectively manage urgent and important Sales Opportunities. * Work with internal engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, product management and finance departments to facilitate Sales Opportunity execution. * Drive the sample process as required to obtain product qualification at assigned customers. * Acquire and analyze Voice of Customer information to quantify Sales Opportunity values and propose product ideas rooted in customer insights. * Accurately capture Win/Loss rationale for each closed Sales Opportunity to enable personal reflection, business enhancement consideration, and the continuous improvement of Sales. * Support other Sales roles by providing technical proficiency, solution ideation, and customer support. * Provide technical expertise to internal and external customers on all product lines. * Maintain market knowledge and competitive intelligence through customer communication and industry research. Marginal Responsibilities * Manage Sales Inbox, technical questions, and application inquiries with the goal of supporting the identification and closure of new opportunities at both new and existing customers. * Support the identification of Sales Opportunities as a partner of Technical Sales colleagues. * Support or guide Account Sales colleagues as they navigate customer transactions, like quotes, orders, and RMAs, associated with Sales Opportunities. * Identify customers whose business is at risk. * Perform other duties as assigned. Education, Knowledge, and Skills Requirements * Bachelor's degree in engineering * Minimum 2 years of technical sales or customer-facing experience * Minimum 2 years of experience working directly with aerospace and defense companies, preferred * Demonstrated ability to effectively apply a disciplined sales process * Excellent teamwork skills.
