Sales Engineer Boston, MA Territory: Middlesex, Suffolk, Essex Counties This role is for engineers who want to stay technical but get closer to the business. We are partnered with a family-owned industrial automation distributor that has been doing this the right way for decades. They are not a catalog pusher. They sell complete automation solutions and step in as a true technical partner when customers need help designing, integrating, or scaling complex systems. You will own the Boston territory, one of the most active regions in the company. This area is packed with medical device, robotics, biotech, and advanced manufacturing OEMs. Translation: real engineering conversations, steady project flow, and meaningful technical variety. What makes this role different * Full automation line card including robotics, machine vision, motion control, servos, drives, hydraulics, and pneumatics * Ability to support both component sales and turnkey integration projects * Strong OEM relationships with design-in opportunities at the engineering level * A ramp plan that actually respects the learning curve of technical sales Your first year is focused on learning the product lines, customers, and sales process. Compensation reflects that with a strong base plus guaranteed quarterly bonuses. Once ramped, the plan transitions to base plus uncapped commission. What you will be doing * Owning and growing a defined Boston territory * Developing new business while expanding existing customer relationships * Calling on engineers, engineering managers, and senior leadership * Understanding customer manufacturing processes and business goals * Matching automation solutions to real technical problems * Building and maintaining a consistent pipeline of opportunities * Working independently while collaborating with internal technical resources What they are looking for? This is not an entry-level role. You need to be comfortable selling to engineers and upper management and capable of holding your own in technical discussions. * Proven technical sales experience required * Industrial Automation or adjacent industry experience * Comfortable working independently and owning a territory * Creative, curious, and customer-focused mindset Education and background * Bachelor 's degree in engineering, industrial technology, robotics, or automation preferred * OR an associate degree in a technical field with strong mechanical aptitude and 3 to 5 years of technical sales experience Compensation and benefits * Industry-leading base salary plus uncapped incentive compensation * Guaranteed bonuses during ramp period * Mileage and expense reimbursement * Medical, dental, and vision coverage * Retirement plan with profit sharing * Generous PTO that increases with tenure * Flexible schedule options * Wellness and community service programs If you want to be a technical salesperson who actually adds value instead of pushing part numbers, this role will hold your interest. Compensation: Compensation includes a base salary of $110,000 to $120,000. First year earnings are guaranteed through quarterly bonuses, ensuring total compensation of $140,000 to $160,000 during the ramp period, with uncapped commission thereafter.
