Full description of the position

John Jones Auto Group in Corydon is seeking an experienced, results-driven General Sales Manager (GSM) to lead our Sales Department. The GSM oversees the New and Pre-Owned Sales Teams, sets monthly performance goals, manages inventory strategy, and ensures an exceptional customer experience throughout the dealership. This position requires strong leadership, automotive retail knowledge, and the ability to build a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development * Recruit, train, coach, and motivate Sales Consultants and Sales Managers * Conduct daily and weekly sales meetings * Monitor performance metrics and hold team members accountable * Foster a positive, professional, high-energy sales culture Sales Operations * Manage daily showroom operations and sales processes * Ensure compliance with dealership policies, OEM requirements, and legal guidelines * Work closely with the Finance & Insurance (F&I) team to maximize profitability * Oversee deals, review deal structures, and support the sales team to close transactions Inventory & Marketing * Coordinate new and used vehicle inventory strategy with the General Manager * Monitor market trends and adjust pricing strategies for used vehicles * Collaborate with marketing to drive lead generation, online presence, and showroom traffic Customer Satisfaction * Maintain high CSI and online review standards * Resolve customer issues quickly and professionally * Ensure transparency and consistency in the sales process Financial & Performance Management * Achieve monthly sales volume and gross profit objectives * Create and track sales forecasts, budgets, and KPIs * Analyze performance reports and implement improvement strategies Qualifications * Minimum 3-5 years of automotive dealership management experience * Strong background in retail automotive sales (GSM, Sales Manager, Floor Manager, or similar) * Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets * Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills * Proficiency with dealership CRM, DMS, and digital retailing tools * Ability to lead, inspire, and hold team members accountable * High level of professionalism and customer service focus Job Type: Full-time Benefits: * 401(k) * 401(k) matching * Dental insurance * Employee discount * Flexible schedule * Health insurance * Health savings account * Life insurance * Paid time off * Relocation assistance * Vision insurance Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $80,000.00 per year Benefits: * 401(k) * Employee discount * Health insurance * Life insurance * Paid time off * Relocation assistance * Vision insurance Work Location: In person
