Solar Installation Lead Instructor Position Title: Solar Instructor & Installation Lead Organization: Phase 3 Training Corporation Location: Baltimore City Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Site Manager About Phase 3 Phase 3 Training Corporation equips underserved youth and returning citizens with hands-on training, industry credentials, and pathways into high-demand careers, including electrical, construction, alternative energy, and advanced manufacturing. Our fee-for-service Solar Installation Program expands our mission by offering real-world installation opportunities while generating sustainable earned revenue. Position Summary The Solar Instructor & Installation Lead is responsible for delivering high- quality solar photovoltaic (PV) instruction and overseeing hands-on lab activities, while also serving as the lead technician for Phase 3's fee-for- service solar installation contracts. This role blends teaching, workforce development, and technical leadership, ensuring students gain real-world experience installing solar systems in community-based projects. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Training (50%) - Deliver curriculum in solar energy fundamentals, PV system design, electrical basics, safety, and hands-on installation techniques. - Facilitate engaging, trauma-informed instruction for youth and adult learners. - Lead lab exercises, mock installations, and job-site training within Phase 3's Solar Microfactory. - Assess student progress, document competencies, and provide support. - Ensure compliance with industry standards (NABCEP, NEC, OSHA). - Coordinate with program staff for alignment on pathways and supports. Fee-for-Service Installation Leadership (40%) - Serve as lead installer for all solar installation contracts. - Manage site assessments, material planning, and installation schedules. - Supervise trainees on job sites, ensuring quality workmanship and safety. - Work with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure project success. - Complete commissioning, troubleshooting, and client handoff. - Ensure projects meet time, budget, and revenue goals. Program & Operational Support (10%) - Maintain tools, equipment, and solar lab resources. - Support data collection for reporting and evaluation. - Participate in meetings, professional development, and instructor training. - Represent Phase 3 at community events and partner meetings. Qualifications Required: - 3+ years solar PV installation, electrical work, or related experience. - Strong knowledge of PV systems, wiring, racking, inverters, and safety. - Leadership and crew supervision skills. - NABCEP Associate or Installation Professional certification. - Ability to teach and mentor diverse youth and adult learners. - Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites. - Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work on roofs. Preferred: - Prior teaching or workforce training experience. - OSHA-30 Certification. - Experience serving youth or returning citizens. - Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
