Collective Manager Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and organized individual to manage operations for our collective of flower farms centered around Charlottesville, VA. This multi-faceted role combines sales management and sales floor operations to support local growers and connect them with buyers in our community. This role includes coordinating event orders, overseeing weekly sales, and conducting in-person sales out of our shared cooler space in the Pantops area of Charlottesville. It is a mostly computer and phone based position, but you will be required to be physically present in Charlottesville for our weekly in-person sales event on Tuesdays as well as other occasions as they may arise. Please note that CVFC is also seeking a delivery driver for Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. It is possible that the roles of manager and driver may be fulfilled by one candidate. Please see our CVFC Delivery Driver posting for more details. Collective Manager Time Commitment: 7-12 hours/week of computer-based work. 4 hours of sales floor work at a specific time and place. Platform Management * Oversee the Rooted Farmers sales platform, including opening and closing weekly listings * Review and approve product listings from growers each week * Maintain accurate inventory and pricing information Event & Order Coordination * Manage event sales from start to finish * Maintain order tracking sheets and documentation * Communicate with both buyers and growers regarding orders * Input confirmed orders into the Rooted Farmers platform * Coordinate order replacements and resolve order issues promptly Communication & Member Relations * Send weekly emails to keep members informed and engaged * Handle inquiries and provide timely responses to buyers and growers Marketing & Growth * Participate actively in marketing initiatives to grow the Collective * Conduct outreach to potential new members and customers * Identify and pursue opportunities to increase sales * Represent the Collective at community events and networking opportunities Sales Floor Operations (4 hours/week at a specific time and location) * Oversee in-person sales at our shared cooler location in the Pantops area of Charlottesville * Maintain product quality standards * Process transactions and maintain sales records on our point of sale platform * Handle event orders and outreach duties during sales floor hours * Provide excellent customer service * Wash buckets Qualifications Required: * Valid driver's license and clean driving record * Strong organizational and time management skills * Excellent written and verbal communication abilities * Proficiency with digital platforms and basic software (email, spreadsheets, online platforms) * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision * Commitment to supporting local agriculture and supply systems Preferred: * Experience in agriculture and floral design * Knowledge of local flowers * Marketing experience * Customer service background Compensation & Schedule * Hours: 15-18 hours per week (Sales floor operations are at a set time, but the rest of your hours are flexible.) * Pay: $18-22/hour, commensurate with experience * This is a contract position Work Environment This position offers flexibility with remote work for administrative tasks and scheduled on-site requirements for sales floor operations. You'll work closely with a team of experienced local growers, buyers, and community members who are passionate about sustainable, local flowers.
