Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting patients in selecting and fitting eyewear, ensuring optimal vision care. This role requires a strong understanding of ophthalmology, medical terminology, and the ability to manage both retail and clinical aspects of the practice. The Optician will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service while adhering to industry standards and regulations.

Duties

• Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their needs, preferences, and prescriptions.
• Perform fittings and adjustments of eyeglasses and contact lenses to ensure proper fit and comfort.
• Maintain accurate patient records, including medical billing and coding, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Provide information on eyewear products, including lenses, frames, and contact lenses.
• Collaborate with optometrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Manage inventory of eyewear products and supplies, including ordering and restocking as necessary.
• Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage, including the importance of regular eye exams.
• Stay updated on the latest trends in eyewear technology and fashion.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Optician or in a related field is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology related to ophthalmology is essential.
• Familiarity with medical coding, billing practices, and maintaining medical records is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service.
• Ability to work effectively in both retail management and clinical settings.
• Proficiency in taking vital signs may be beneficial but is not required.
