Full description of the position

Position Summary The Retail Wine & Beer Sales Representative (Wine-Focused Route) is responsible for maximizing sales, distribution, and visibility of a wine-heavy portfolio within an assigned retail territory. This role emphasizes wine education, strategic selling, merchandising excellence, and strong customer relationships while supporting company and supplier objectives. Success in this role requires a strong knowledge of wine, effective territory planning, and the ability to execute sales, merchandising, and promotional initiatives consistently across accounts. Essential Duties & Responsibilities The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to: * Analyze, plan, establish, and maintain an efficient and productive daily call pattern within the assigned territory. * Evaluate each account and the overall territory to identify priority selling, promotional, and merchandising opportunities, with a strong focus on wine brands. * Call on all assigned accounts with established sales and merchandising objectives to maximize case volume, distribution, shelf placement, and promotional execution. * Drive distribution and visibility of a wine-forward portfolio while maintaining support for complementary beer brands. * Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with retail customers. * Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations tailored to supplier programs, wine features, and individual account needs. * Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of wine brands, varietals, regions, pricing, and competitive landscape. * Install, maintain, and refresh point-of-sale and printed materials to ensure displays are clean, current, and effective. * Participate in supplier ride-withs, sales meetings, tastings, and company-sponsored events. * Attend scheduled brand promotions, tastings, and divisional events as required. * Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activity, competitive activity, and account information. * Submit weekly territory recaps, scheduled events, and account activity reports. * Maintain personal vehicle, appearance, and professional conduct in accordance with company standards. * Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Physical Requirements * Ability to lift up to 45 pounds. * Ability to bend, stoop, reach above shoulder height, and work at floor level. * Position requires intermittent standing, walking, lifting, and carrying throughout the workday. Minimum Qualifications * Reliable personal transportation and valid driver's license required. * Clean background check required. * High school diploma required; college education preferred. * Prior sales experience preferred. * Strong knowledge of wine; knowledge of beer and spirits also required. * Knowledge of merchandising and display techniques for package liquor stores. * Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and persuasion skills. * Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. * Proficiency with basic technology including computers, calculators, and sales systems. * Flexibility to work hours before 8:00 AM, after 5:00 PM, and occasional weekends as business needs require. * Willingness to relocate to Knoxville, TN prior to start date.
