Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Entry Writer / Customs Entry Specialist to support the import operations of a major Japanese logistics company located in the Carson / Los Angeles area. This position is ideal for professionals with 5 -10 years of customs entry or import documentation experience who value accuracy, stability, and a well-organized work environment. To reflect the level of responsibility, this role offers a competitive hourly rate of $30 -35/hr. Responsibilities * Examine and classify import documents to prepare accurate customs entries * Review commercial invoices, packing lists, valuation documents, and other import paperwork * Perform HTS/HS code classification and maintain accurate classification records * Communicate with customs brokers, carriers, truckers, and U.S. Customs regarding clearance matters * Ensure full compliance with U.S. Customs and government agency regulations (CBP, FDA, USDA, EPA, ATF ) * Maintain and update customs files, records, and data in accordance with regulatory standards * Create and submit customs-related reports to local authorities * Audit shipment files prior to customs submission to ensure accuracy and completeness * Support sales teams by assisting with customs-related questions and documentation * Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency and compliance processes * Perform special projects and additional tasks assigned by management * Report irregular issues or concerns to supervisors promptly * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment Requirements * 5 -10 years of direct experience in customs entry writing, brokerage, or import documentation * Associate degree required (Bachelor's degree preferred), or equivalent work experience * Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to confidentiality * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines professionally * Proficiency in MS Office, Windows OS, and general office tools * Experience researching HTS codes and staying current with customs regulations * Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently * Ability to collaborate effectively with management, colleagues, and external partners * Experience with CargoWise or similar logistics systems preferred * Japanese language ability is a plus (not required) * Ability to sit and work with documents/computer systems for extended periods Why This Role Stands Out * Work with a globally trusted major Japanese logistics organization * Opportunity to deepen your expertise in international import operations, especially Asia-based trade lanes * New, clean, and modern office environment that supports focused work * Stable, respectful, and team-oriented company culture * Long-term career continuity and growth potential * A professional environment suitable for experienced individuals seeking a balanced workplace * Welcoming to both men and women with strong customs experience Citylights Job is a professional staffing and recruitment agency serving Japanese and international companies across the U.S. Pay: From $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Benefits: * 401(k) * Dental insurance * Health insurance * Paid time off * Vision insurance Application Question(s): * Do you have at least 5 years of hands-on experience in customs entry writing or import documentation ?
