About Public Sewer Service Public Sewer Service is a 50+ year sewer contracting company generating over $100 million in annual revenue. We are based in West Caldwell, NJ and operate a large, well-equipped sewer cleaning division with a strong fleet of Jet/Vac (Vactor-style) trucks, jetters, and CCTV inspection equipment , supported by a large team of experienced sewer and drain professionals across multiple sewer-related specialties. We serve residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal customers throughout New Jersey. The Opportunity This role is built for someone who has real sewer & drain cleaning experience and wants to move into management--even if you've never had the title. The core purpose of this position is to train and groom the right candidate into a Service Manager role within our commercial sewer cleaning operation. This is not a hands-on field/operator job. You're not being hired to run a truck every day. You're being hired to learn and take ownership of the management side of the department --with training and guidance from experienced Service Managers throughout the company. To succeed here, you should already possess strong management and/or supervisory skills (even if informal): organization, leadership presence, accountability, and the ability to make decisions under pressure. This position offers tremendous growth potential as you become more proficient managing the department. What You 'll Do (Service Manager Development Responsibilities) Your day-to-day responsibilities will focus on the tasks that make a commercial sewer cleaning department run efficiently: * Manage daily and weekly scheduling for Jet/Vac, jetting, and CCTV work * Coordinate workflow with dispatch/admin for service calls, contracts, PM work, and emergencies * Assign the right crews, trucks, and equipment based on job scope and customer needs * Plan jobs before crews arrive (access, equipment needs, safety requirements, realistic time expectations) * Support customer follow-through and help ensure clear communication and clean job close-outs * Ensure accurate documentation: work orders, job notes, time sheets, and proper handling of CCTV files/reports * Monitor job progress and drive accountability for quality and completion standards * Learn how to improve efficiency: utilization, overtime control, downtime awareness, and smart job sequencing * Reinforce safety through planning and accountability (PPE, traffic control, confined space awareness, etc.) * Work side-by-side with experienced Service Managers to learn the systems and decision-making that run a high-volume operation What We 're Looking For (Experience That Matters) We want someone who understands sewer cleaning work deeply and can translate that knowledge into good management decisions. * Extensive sewer & drain cleaning experience (commercial exposure required) * Strong understanding of Jet/Vac (Vactor-style) operations and high-pressure jetting best practices * Ability to evaluate job requirements quickly and assign the right approach, crew, and equipment * CCTV/video inspection experience is a plus (mainline and/or push camera) and knowing what good documentation looks like Just as important, you should have the personal traits that make a strong manager: * Organized, reliable, strong follow-through * Clear communicator with crews and office staff * Calm under pressure and able to prioritize quickly * Comfortable holding people accountable respectfully * Thinks in terms of efficiency, customer service, and standards Requirements * 5+ years of sewer & drain cleaning experience (including commercial work) * Strong knowledge of Jet/Vac/jetting operations and sewer cleaning best practices * Demonstrated management/supervisory ability (title not required) * Comfortable with basic computer use (email, job tracking, spreadsheets) Compensation & Benefits * Competitive pay based on experience * Benefits package including [health insurance, retirement plan, PTO, etc.] * Stable, long-term role with a $100M+ company based in West Caldwell, NJ * Clear path to advance into a Service Manager position with strong upside as you grow How to Apply Submit your resume and include a short note with: * Your Jet/Vac / Vactor and jetting experience (years + types of work) * The kinds of sewer/drain systems and customer environments you've worked in * CCTV experience (if applicable) * An example of when you took charge, led others, or improved how work was organized/handled Pay: From $120,000.00 per year Benefits: * 401(k) * 401(k) matching * Dental insurance * Health insurance * Paid time off * Retirement plan * Vision insurance Work Location: In person
