Full description of the position
Potter's Alley is searching for an experienced Operational Assistant General Manager. The AGM is responsible for the safe, efficient and economical operation of Potter's Alley. They will proactively lead the bowling facility to ensure achievement of business goals in revenue, expense, profitability, customer satisfaction, inventory and employee morale. The AGM will provide customer and employees with outstanding service through friendly, quick, efficient, accurate and safe assistance. This position will compliment another AGM position. Responsibilities include: * Facility operations: opening, closing and operating the facility including taking lane reservations, party reservations, processing facility reservation requests, and answering phone calls. * Customer service: providing exemplary customer service to all who enter our facility. Resolving customer issues while analyzing the root of the problem. * Staff management: training staff and providing feedback, both verbally and via performance reviews, to staff. * Events: Assisting at special events such as tournaments, school reunions, PE classes, interscholastic team practices & matches, IHSA tournaments, etc. * Compliance: Ensuring compliance with liquor laws, food safety regulations and OHSA safety practices. * Financial management: counting cash drawers, managing manpower and sending workers home when the facility isn't busy. * Security: maintaining security for funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment. * Equipment maintenance and repair: ensuring bowling equipment is well-maintained communicating pinsetter and lane issues to mechanic and owners. Learning basic pinsetter fixes such as out-of-range, 180s and basic ball calls. Qualifications: * High School graduate with some college credits preferred * Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience managing a team of at least 5 people * Food Handlers License required; Certified Food Service Manager with Allergen Certification preferred * Must be 21 years old and hold a valid Basset License. * Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills * Exceptional ability to prioritize job tasks and direct staff accordingly Schedule: * Must be available evenings, weekends and some holidays averaging 25-30 hours per week during the low season (May to September) and 30-35 hours during the busy season (October to April). We are closed on major holidays (Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas). * Expected to be scheduled Thursday through Sunday with Mondays and Tuesdays off. This schedule will be in place through the Spring of 2026. Leadership schedules are reviewed seasonally.
