Outside Sales Representative Austin and San Antonio Markets Twisted Nail Sand & Gravel Company Overview Founded in 2012, Twisted Nail Sand & Gravel is a family-owned business providing trucking solutions and direct-to-jobsite aggregate supply for commercial construction projects throughout Central Texas. Twisted Nail supports contractors by sourcing and delivering aggregate materials including rock, dirt, and sand. Our customers include general contractors and subcontractors managing a wide range of projects, from smaller commercial work such as house pads and driveways to large-scale infrastructure, energy, and industrial construction including stadiums and solar or wind farms. Our team maintains a high level of performance excellence, providing customers with consistent results that allow projects to remain on time and on budget. Summary of Position The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for developing and managing a book of business within the Austin and San Antonio markets. This role focuses on building long-term relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, and project managers who rely on consistent execution and responsive service. Territory efforts are driven by opportunity rather than rigid geographic boundaries. Both Austin and San Antonio are active, growing markets, and the role will naturally follow where project activity and customer relationships are developing. This position is well suited for a salesperson who understands relationship- based selling and is comfortable investing consistent effort up front to build a durable book of repeat business. While early sales cycles may require patience and follow-up, successful relationships often lead to recurring work across future projects, allowing earnings and responsibility to grow over time. Reporting and Team Structure This role reports to the Director of Sales and Fulfillment, based out of the company offices in Waco, Texas. The Sales Director is actively involved in training, support, and deal strategy, while expecting sales representatives to operate independently and manage their territory with support but without micromanagement. The sales team currently includes a Territory Manager covering Waco and surrounding markets and an Outside Sales Representative focused specifically on Austin. This position expands the team's coverage across Austin and San Antonio and works closely with sales, dispatch, and operations team members. Compensation and Commission Structure Compensation includes a $50,000 base salary plus commission earned on gross profit using the following tiered structure: * 12.5% on the first $150,000 in gross profit * 6% on $150,001 to $300,000 * 4% on $300,001 to $500,000 * 2% on gross profit above $500,000 To translate this into practical outcomes: * $1,000,000 in annual sales results in total compensation of approximately $70,000 * $3,000,000 in annual sales results in total compensation of $85,000 or more Annual expectations are based on building stable, repeat work. Larger multi- phase projects and major commercial developments do occur and represent meaningful upside beyond baseline projections. As a book of business matures, compensation becomes increasingly driven by recurring relationships rather than one-time wins. Performance Expectations and Ramp Building a book of business takes time. Early success is defined by consistent effort paired with measurable progress toward annual sales goals. * During the first three months, emphasis is placed on activity, field presence, and relationship development * Between months three and six, we expect to see measurable progress toward sales goals with an upward sales trajectory * From months six through twelve, performance is evaluated against established sales goals While early months are more forgiving as relationships are built, effort must translate into visible momentum that indicates long-term success is achievable. New Outside Sales Representatives will have a first-year sales goal of $1,000,000. Primary Responsibilities * Build and grow a personal book of business through jobsite visits, office visits, phone calls, and ongoing follow-up * Identify active and upcoming construction projects through permits, jobsite activity, and contractor outreach * Work with internal teams to source aggregate materials and coordinate trucking solutions that meet customer project requirements * Maintain clear, timely communication with dispatch and operations to ensure execution aligns with customer expectations * Maintain accurate activity and customer records within the company CRM * Represent Twisted Nail professionally in fast-paced, time-sensitive situations where responsiveness and reliability are critical Work Location, Schedule, and Travel This is a field-based role. On average, the position involves three to four days per week in market and one to two days per week in the Waco office. Work hours and availability are driven by customer and project needs. Early mornings, late afternoons, or occasional weekend responsiveness may be required based on construction schedules. Regular travel between Austin, San Antonio, and Waco is required regardless of candidate location. A personal vehicle is required. A company fuel card is provided. Tools and Systems Sales representatives use Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe PDF, and Twisted Nail's internal CRM daily. CRM experience is preferred but not required. Training is provided. Qualifications * Prior sales experience required * Construction-related sales experience preferred, but not required * Trucking or quarry experience preferred, but not required * Strong communication skills and professional presence * Bi-lingual English and Spanish preferred * Ability to manage long sales cycles and maintain consistent follow-up * Comfortable operating in active construction, quarry, and jobsite environments * Valid driver's license and clean driving record Benefits * Health insurance reimbursement through QSEHRA ($512.00 per month) * Company fuel card * Two weeks PTO after three months, three weeks after two years * Performance-based bonuses * Uncapped commission opportunity Disclaimer This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed.
