We are looking for a Sales/Trading Representative. This position is responsible for the purchase and sale of commodities in the scrap metal industry. We are looking for a junior type of professional that we can train for ultimate success for both parties. This is an on-site (NOT hybrid or remote) position at an office in Charleston, SC. What is the Role and Responsibilities? The main focus is developing and maintaining relationships with scrap processors, steel producers and transportation companies. This requires contact by visitation, phone calls, and emails on a constant basis. The trader must be able to plan a travel schedule which utilizes their time efficiently. Generally, travel is required during the middle weeks of each month to help build a relationship between the trading representative and individual customers. The first and last weeks of the month are primarily spent on the phone probing the supply as well as the demand of commodities in the forthcoming month. Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills are required to be a successful trader. As part of the scrap trading team with our offices, information is assimilated to prepare for future business. Skills are developed via a training program and continued with on the job training from experienced staff. Who are We Looking For?
