Location: Portland, OR (97211) FT/PT Status: Full Time Shift: Day Shift Salary: $90k to $115k (DOE - Depending on Experience) The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving profitable growth across the company by identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities. This role works cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Procurement, and Finance to ensure opportunities are evaluated thoroughly, executed effectively, and aligned with company goals. This individual will lead the prospecting process, support sales teams in closing new business, and take ownership of opportunities from initial identification through execution and ongoing performance. The focus is not just on winning business, but on ensuring new growth is sustainable, profitable, and operationally sound. United Salad Co. is one of the area's largest family owned distributors of fresh produce, grocery and foodservice products across the Pacific Northwest region. We distribute produce to national and independent grocers, restaurants, schools and other institutions from local farmers and growers across the globe. Benefits Include: * Medical & Dental insurance through Kaiser. * PTO accruals begin on the first day! * 401(k) Retirement Plan Responsibilities: * Identify and develop new business opportunities across all sales channels and customer segments * Lead prospecting efforts and help prioritize high-value growth opportunities * Partner with sales teams to support closing new business and expanding existing accounts * Own the process of moving opportunities from concept to execution, ensuring clear handoffs and accountability * Work closely with Operations, Procurement, and Finance to validate feasibility, pricing, and profitability * Ensure new business aligns with company capabilities, service standards, and margin expectations * Track performance of new business and support adjustments as needed to drive long-term success * Help train and work with the sales staff on prospecting and closing new business opportunities. Key Expectations: * Strong cross-department collaboration and communication * Clear focus on profitability, execution, and follow-through * Hands-on involvement in closing and launching new business * Ability to support, coach, and partner with sales teams to drive growth Job Qualifications: * Proven experience driving new business growth, including prospecting, closing, and launching new accounts * Strong understanding of how sales, operations, procurement, and finance work together to support profitable growth * Demonstrated ability to lead opportunities from initial concept through execution and follow-through * Track record of partnering with sales teams to support closing business and expanding customer relationships * Ability to evaluate opportunities with a profitability mindset, including pricing, cost structure, and operational impact * Strong communication and relationship-building skills across internal teams and external partners * Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that requires ownership, accountability, and adaptability * Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). * Position is contingent upon a successful background check, an acceptable motor vehicle records check and ability to pass a drug screen, including THC.United Salad Co
