About BBQ Outfitters BBQ Outfitters is Texas' leading specialty retailer for outdoor kitchens, grills, and premium outdoor living products. Since 1998, we've helped homeowners design and build outdoor cooking spaces that last for years--not impulse purchases. Our Austin showroom serves customers making thoughtful, often high-dollar decisions. This role is not transactional retail. It is consultative sales , product education, and follow-through. Who This Role Is For This role is a strong fit if you: * Enjoy working face-to-face with customers * Like learning technical products and explaining them clearly * Take pride in doing things the right way, not the fastest way * Are comfortable guiding customers through complex decisions * Want a long-term role with growth potential This role is not a fit if you: * Prefer minimal structure or loose expectations * Dislike retail hours, including weekends * Want a high-pressure, short-cycle sales environment * Are looking for a temporary or transitional role What You 'll Do * Greet and engage customers in the showroom * Ask thoughtful questions to understand needs, space, and use-case * Educate customers on grills, outdoor kitchen components, and accessories * Help customers confidently select the right products for their project * Follow up with customers consistently and professionally * Coordinate with teammates to ensure a smooth customer experience * Maintain product knowledge through ongoing training What Success Looks Like * Customers feel informed, respected, and confident in their purchase * You build trust rather than rushing transactions * Follow-up is consistent and timely * You continuously improve your product and sales knowledge * You contribute positively to team culture and standards What We 're Looking For Required * Experience in customer-facing sales or service * Strong communication skills, in person and written * Willingness to learn technical products * High personal standards and attention to detail Preferred (Not Required) * Specialty retail, home improvement, appliances, or construction exposure * Experience with commission or performance-based pay * Experience selling higher-ticket items * Long tenure in prior roles We care more about coachability and mindset than resumes. Schedule & Environment * In-store role at our Austin location * Includes some evenings and weekends * Fast-paced during peak hours, consultative at the counter Compensation & Growth * Base pay plus commission * Total earnings are performance-based * Top performers earn well above average retail compensation * Ongoing training and advancement opportunities for high performers Our Standards We take hiring seriously and invest heavily in training.
