SUMMARY The Catering Sales Manager ( "Gerente de Ventas de Catering") manages the sales and coordinates all arrangements for individuals having catered events at the resort, following the highest professional standards and promoting the company's sales-focused culture. *PAY & PERKS * Compensation: $33.00 - $36.00 DOE + Earned Commission from Event Service Charges * Discounted Hotel Rooms for you, family and friends * Free Employee Parking and/or discounted MTS Pronto Card. * Free Meals & Refreshments during working shifts * Career advancement opportunities! * Health (including SIMNSA), Dental, Vision, 401k with match, life insurance, sick and vacation time. * Discounts on cell phone bills, shoes, gym memberships, and more! * ESSENTIAL DUTIES * Actively pursues new business by soliciting prospective clients and closing private-party bookings that exceed departmental goals. * Conducts scheduled and walk-in site tours of property. * Responsible for promoting and selling catering services for events such as weddings, corporate gatherings and parties, and ensuring client satisfaction while maximizing revenue. * Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets, identify new potential clients, and nurture existing relationships. * Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and stay informed of industry trends and competitor activities. * Negotiate contracts with clients, detailing service agreements, pricing, and event requirements to ensure mutual satisfaction. * Managing the catering sales process from beginning to end, including planning, budgeting, and execution. * Meets with client and proactively helps them to choose specific banquet space and food and beverage for the function. * Accurately prepares catering contracts with program arrangements. * Organizes account files and keeps a good track on tentative and definite bookings. * Conveys a favorable image of the organization by projecting a positive, professional appearance and demeanor to our guests and associates alike. * Courteously welcomes and greets clients at the beginning of each function and oversees function to ensure it is being ran in a smooth and timely fashion. * Introduces Banquet Manager and Banquet Captain in charge of the function to the client, in order to assure all needs and problems will be taken care of promptly. * Communicates last minute event changes to kitchen and hotel staff and ensure satisfactory follow-up. * Attends weekly BEO meetings, ensuring that other hotel departments understand their roles in upcoming group programs. * Works directly with the Director of Catering and Conference Services in the preparation of the monthly forecast and other projects. * Reports any safety hazards or injuries and makes recommendations to eliminate future liabilities. * Consults with representatives of client group or organization to plan details such as number of persons expected, display space desired, and food service schedule. * Arranges publicity, special functions, adjusts complaints, and performs other duties to promote goodwill. * Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team. QUALIFICATIONS * Four-year bachelor's degree, two-year associates degree, trade school degree, professional certification or any equivalent. * At least 2 years of relevant experience and/or training. * A combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement. * Previous similar position in a hotel, or similar business entity preferred. * Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong working knowledge of Excel for data tracking, reporting, and organization. * Working knowledge of Delphi and other catering and event software platform a plus. * Must be able to attain a valid San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire. Evans Hotels will provide this training and is to be completed at the company's expense. * Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges. * Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required. * Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs. * The following position will be filled in accordance with the process set forth in California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code [please apply online] et. seq. The pay scale posted is the salary or hourly wage range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for the position during the first year of employment. The posted range does NOT include potential additional types of compensation, such as gratuities, service charges, commissions, or bonuses.
