Full description of the position
Summary Working in a team environment, this position is responsible for the account management of a public entity insurance program. The Commercial Lines Account Executive will carry out the policies and programs established by the Board of Directors in a professional and competent manner. This position manages an Account within approved budgets and established guidelines and may not exceed those limits without specific approval of the Board of Directors. This is a customer-facing position requiring superior people skills and a strong commercial insurance experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Manage a diverse book of large commercial insurance for a public entity, including state-sponsored colleges and university. * Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with brokers, wholesalers, and other third parties used for the placement of commercial insurance. * Provide marketing direction and prepare underwriting submissions for all commercial policies. * Oversee and manage client accounts, including processing policy changes, applications, and claims assistance. * Provide risk management services to the Account to support internal processes as needed. * Conduct an annual stewardship review with appropriate Account employees to discuss previous and ongoing efforts to manage exposures. * Track and monitor the billing and collection of all insurance premiums billed to the Account on behalf of insurance carriers, including monitoring aged receivables and payables when requested by accounting. * Collaborate with Account representatives to evaluate exposures, identify viable insurance solutions, and recommend appropriate coverages proactively. * Place all new and renewal coverages as directed by the Account and associated entities. * Provide input on the corporate budgeting process, projecting anticipated revenue and expenses related to the Account program. * Oversee management and disbursement of corporate budget items dedicated to the Account, including the use of professional fees, within allocated budgets. * Maintain professional relationships with clients, employees, and vendors, demonstrating a strong commitment to client service. Marginal Duties and Responsibilities * Attend training sessions and meetings as required. * Provide periodic relationship status reports as requested by the Board of Directors and advise the President and Board of any significant budget deviations due to unforeseen circumstances. * Execute contracts with outside vendors as needed to carry out day-to-day operations of the insurance program. Seek advice from the Executive Vice President, Board of Directors, committee members, or outside counsel for matters requiring review or legal approval. Supervisory Responsibilities Responsible for hiring, training, and employment actions of assigned staff. Qualifications : Bachelor's degree preferably in business administration or equivalent experience. Eight to ten years of commercial lines experience with a strong understanding of multi-line insurance required. Must hold and maintain a valid Rhode Island insurance broker's license. : Ability to prepare and deliver reports effectively. Must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally at all levels. Strong presentation skills required. : Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and industry-related financial software. Must be able to conduct research using the Internet and other digital resources. : Ability to solve practical problems, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
