Business Development Manager A Reliable Caregiver Des Moines, Iowa Position Summary A Reliable Caregiver is a newly launched, locally operated non-medical in-home care agency serving seniors and families in the Des Moines area. We are seeking a motivated, relationship-focused Business Development Manager to help build the agency from the ground up through strategic marketing, referral development, and direct client engagement. This role is responsible not only for generating referrals and leads, but also for guiding prospective clients and families through the sales process--from first conversation to signed service agreement and start of care. The ideal candidate understands that success in senior care sales is built on trust, empathy, education, and consistent follow-through. This is a foundational role with significant influence on the agency's growth strategy, sales processes, and community presence. Key ResponsibilitiesReferral & Relationship Development * Build and maintain strong referral relationships with hospitals, skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities, hospice agencies, home health providers, senior living communities, and other community partners * Establish trust and credibility with referral partners through consistent in-person visits, education, and follow-up * Serve as the primary point of contact for referral partners and referral-generated leads Marketing & Community Outreach * Execute a structured weekly marketing plan that includes in-person outreach, networking events, and community engagement * Represent A Reliable Caregiver at community events, professional networking groups, and educational opportunities * Collaborate with agency leadership to refine messaging, value propositions, and marketing materials Sales & Client Enrollment * Respond to and follow up with inbound leads generated through marketing and referral efforts * Conduct initial consultations with prospective clients and families to understand care needs, preferences, and expectations * Educate families on services, care models, pricing, and next steps in a compassionate and professional manner * Guide clients through the enrollment process, including coordination of assessments, proposal development, and signing clients on to service * Serve as a liaison between the prospective client and internal team to ensure a smooth transition from sales to care delivery Growth & Pipeline Management * Manage a consistent sales pipeline from first contact through signed service agreement and start of care * Track referral activity, lead status, and conversion outcomes * Identify trends and opportunities to improve conversion rates and referral performance Reporting & Accountability * Maintain accurate documentation of marketing activities, referrals, leads, and signed clients * Provide regular updates to leadership on sales activity, pipeline status, and growth progress * Assist in establishing benchmarks, KPIs, and best practices for ongoing business development Qualifications * 2+ years of experience in sales, business development, or relationship-based marketing * Proven ability to guide prospects through a consultative sales process and close business * Experience in senior care, home care, home health, hospice, or healthcare sales preferred * Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills * Self-starter comfortable working in a startup or growth-focused environment * Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple relationships and leads simultaneously * Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Schedule & Compensation * Full-time position with a flexible schedule (primarily weekday business hours) * Combination of in-field community outreach, in-office collaboration, and remote work * Competitive base salary with performance-based bonus incentives tied to signed clients and growth milestones (structure to be determined based on experience) Benefits & Perks * Opportunity to help build a new agency from the ground up * Direct impact on client growth, brand reputation, and community presence * Autonomy to shape marketing and sales strategies * Mileage reimbursement for community visits * Paid time off and holidays (as the agency grows) * Professional growth opportunities as the organization expands Why Join A Reliable Caregiver?
