Regional Sales Manager - Packaging Machinery Location: Chicago Area (Remote/Field-Based) Territory: Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska Company Overview Join a powerhouse in the packaging industry. We specialize in high-growth flexible packaging solutions, including Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS), premade bag systems, and high-volume packaging lines. The Role We are seeking a high-energy Regional Sales Manager with a "Hunter" mentality to drive growth across Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska. You will be responsible for the full sales lifecycle of high-value capital equipment ranging from $250K to $4MM per installation. This role requires a strategic professional who can navigate complex technical sales, build a robust network, and effectively "farm" existing accounts for expansion. Compensation & Benefits * Base Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 (commensurate with experience). * Total Earnings: Realistic OTE of $170,000 - $220,000+. * Uncapped Commissions: Tiered structure that rewards high performance (starting at 1.5% and scaling up to 4%). * The "Booking Advantage": Commissions are paid upon booking , not upon receipt of payment--allowing you to realize your earnings significantly faster. * Full Benefits: Comprehensive 401(k) with company match, premium health insurance, and big-company perks. * Travel Support: mileage reimbursement for territory travel. Primary Responsibilities * Drive Revenue: Deliver and exceed the sales budget for the assigned three-state territory. * Strategic Prospecting: Identify and convert new business opportunities (Hunter) while maintaining strong relationships with the current customer base (Farmer). * Technical Consulting: Act as a subject matter expert, understanding customer production needs and recommending complex machinery solutions (VFFS, premade bags, etc.). * Matrix Collaboration: Work seamlessly within our matrix environment, coordinating with internal engineering and sales support to provide accurate, high-quality quotes. * Voice of the Customer: Provide market intelligence to the GM and R&D teams to influence future product enhancements and innovations. * Reporting: Maintain accurate records in CRM and provide timely forecasts to management. Candidate Qualifications * Experience: Proven track record in Capital Equipment Sales. While packaging machinery experience is highly preferred, we will consider candidates who have sold large-scale industrial equipment (e.g., mold machines, extruders, large-scale printing presses) with price points between $250K-$4M. * Network: An established network within the manufacturing or packaging sectors in the Midwest is a significant plus. * Education: University degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related Business field is preferred. * Skills: * Strong ability to interpret technical specifications and "roll up your sleeves" to solve on-site application challenges. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software. * Excellent negotiation skills with a focus on "win-win" outcomes. * Attributes: Self-motivated, ethical, and results-oriented. You should thrive in an environment with minimal red tape where you are expected to operate with high autonomy. Working Conditions * This is a remote, field-based role requiring regular travel throughout IL, IA, and NE. * Occasional long hours may be required to meet project deadlines or attend trade shows. * Candidate must be properly equipped to represent the company at customer sites and high-level corporate meetings.
