Job Summary With a patient-centered culture, the Executive Director of Philanthropy provides strategic leadership for philanthropy efforts across the Mon Health System, dba Vandalia Health North. The role is responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on philanthropy initiatives that support the northern region, including fundraising events, corporate giving, community fundraising initiatives, and selected annual giving and special gift projects and programs. The Executive Director leads donor solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship efforts, including employee giving, grateful patient programs, and estate giving activities, in alignment with system priorities. The role provides leadership and strategic oversight for hospital foundation committees related to events and annual giving, recognizing that governance structures may vary across the northern region foundations. The Executive Director also serves as the executive leader for the Mon Health Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary. In partnership with Community Outreach, Marketing, and Communications, the Executive Director ensures that philanthropic initiatives are aligned with organizational priorities and that the Vandalia Health brand is appropriately represented in support of the mission, vision, and values of the organization. The role builds strong community relationships and enhances visibility for philanthropy across the northern region while upholding the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct. Responsibilities Strategic Planning Builds donor relationships in support of excellence and develops and maintains annual and long-term philanthropic strategies that align with the strategic direction of the Mon Health System and Vandalia Health North entities. Establishes measurable objectives for fund development and donor engagement activities across the northern region. Communication/Negotiation Successfully collaborates with community leaders, volunteers, physicians, businesses, and internal stakeholders across the northern region. Demonstrates strong relationship management skills and versatility to organize, plan, and support meetings for campaign and foundation committees. Effectively presents philanthropic priorities and strategies to advance results-driven goals. Project Managing and Leadership Leads, mentors, and inspires philanthropy staff and committees through personal effectiveness and credibility to achieve project goals and foster an attitude of responsiveness. Prepares periodic and annual reports for executive leadership and applicable foundation boards, and oversees the integrity and functionality of donor management systems and records. Serves as the senior leader responsible for oversight of the Mon Health Medical Center Auxiliary staff, the Gift Shop Supervisor, and the Mon Health Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary. *Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Light Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25lbs with a maximum lifting of 50 lbs. Some weekend and evening work required. 8+ years of successful experience managing and growing a comprehensive fund development program is required. Prior experience in major and planned gifts solicitation required. Demonstrated success with major donor portfolio management to foster robust fundraising platform with clearly defined revenue goals seeking, fostering, and soliciting prospects as well as stewarding those who have already made commitments. Strong leadership skills to include prior experience managing employees. Must be skilled at managing committees and driving projects to completion. Board of Directors governing experience ideal.
