Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Insurance Collections Specialist to join our Billing team. This role is vital in managing the collection process for medical claims, ensuring accurate account reconciliation, and maintaining positive relationships with insurance providers and patients. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of medical billing, revenue cycle management, and financial concepts, with excellent communication skills to facilitate effective negotiations and customer service. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on optimizing revenue recovery and supporting the financial health of our organization. *Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Manage and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable related to insurance claims and patient balances * Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve billing issues efficiently * Perform account reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial records * Utilize medical coding knowledge, including CPT coding and ICD-10, to review claims for proper submission and processing * Apply medical terminology and billing procedures accurately within medical billing systems and financial software * Engage in negotiation with insurance companies to resolve denied or unpaid claims * Maintain detailed documentation of collection efforts and account status updates * Collaborate with accounts payable departments to ensure timely payments and resolve outstanding debts * Use telemarketing techniques as needed to follow up on unpaid accounts while maintaining professional phone etiquette * Support revenue cycle management initiatives by optimizing the collection process and reducing days in accounts receivable Experience * Prior experience in medical collections or healthcare accounts receivable is required * Versed in CPT/HCPCS/ICD-9 Codes * Medical Terminology * Experience with Intergy or Greenway billing management system a plus. * Ability to read and comprehend explanation of benefits (EOBs). * Knowledge and experience with managed care payers in NV, CA, UT and AZ. * Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus This role is integral to maintaining the financial stability of our organization by ensuring efficient collections while providing excellent service to our patients and their families.
