Position Overview We are seeking an experienced HVAC Sheet Metal Fabrication Shop Manager to lead daily shop operations, production planning, and workforce management. This role is responsible for ensuring that sheet metal fabrication, scheduling, quality control, safety, and delivery commitments are met consistently and efficiently. The position requires hands on leadership, strong fabrication knowledge, and the ability to manage both people and process in a fast paced environment. This role owns shop execution from work order release through shipment and is directly accountable for productivity, accuracy, safety, and coordination with project management and field crews. Key Responsibilities * Lead and oversee all HVAC sheet metal fabrication shop operations, including ductwork, fittings, and specialty components. * Read, interpret, and apply blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, and work orders to fabrication planning and execution. * Plan, establish, and adjust shop schedules, labor assignments, and production sequences to meet project deadlines. * Review work orders in advance to verify material requirements, fabrication scope, and production readiness. * Coordinate closely with Project Managers and installation teams to verify timelines, priorities, and field needs. * Supervise, train, and develop sheet metal fabricators and shop personnel, including interviewing, hiring, performance reviews, and corrective actions when required. * Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment by enforcing safety standards and shop procedures. * Manage shop inventory levels to support uninterrupted production while minimizing waste and excess stock. * Oversee preventative maintenance and upkeep of shop equipment, tools, and machinery. * Coordinate purchasing of sheet metal, fittings, accessories, and shop maintenance items. * Monitor production output, quality, and efficiency and report progress, risks, and constraints to management. * Coordinate shipping and receiving activities to ensure accurate and on time delivery of fabricated materials. * Participate in site visits as needed to understand project conditions, identify fabrication challenges, and support problem resolution. * Assist with post sale handoffs between sales, project management, and installation teams to ensure smooth execution. * Drive continuous improvement in shop workflow, layout, tooling, and fabrication processes. * Perform other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge and Skills * 5+ years of HVAC sheet metal fabrication experience, with at least 2 years in a shop leadership or supervisory role. * Strong understanding of HVAC duct systems, sheet metal fabrication methods, and installation requirements. * Proven ability to manage production schedules, manpower, and competing priorities. * Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate, hold accountable, and develop shop personnel. * Strong organizational and time management skills. * Proficient computer skills required for daily scheduling, tracking, and communication. * Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. * Ability to troubleshoot fabrication, equipment, and workflow issues and implement proactive solutions. * Reliable, self motivated, and detail oriented. Compensation Salary: $60,000 to $90,000 per year, based on demonstrated sheet metal fabrication experience, leadership capability, and level of responsibility assumed within the role.
