Job Title: Accounts Receivable (AR) Manager Location: Arcadia, CA 91006 Duration: 3 -6 Months (Contract) Work Type: Onsite / Hybrid (as required) Job Summary: The Accounts Receivable (AR) Manager is responsible for overseeing all billing, collections, and cash application activities for agency programs. This role manages the day-to-day operations of the AR function, ensures timely and accurate billing across multiple funding sources, and leads a team of AR specialists. The AR Manager partners closely with clinical, contracts, and finance teams to resolve billing issues, ensure compliance with payer requirements, and improve cash flow. This position plays a critical role in reducing aging balances, strengthening internal controls, and supporting the organization's financial stability. Key Responsibilities * Oversee end-to-end accounts receivable operations, including billing, collections, cash posting, adjustments, and reconciliations. * Manage billing for multiple funding sources, including county contracts, school districts, managed care, private pay, and government programs. * Ensure accurate setup and maintenance of non-public school contracts, service agreements, and billing configurations. * Monitor AR aging reports, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to reduce outstanding balances and denials. * Resolve complex billing issues and past-due accounts by working with internal teams, county agencies, and school district contacts. * Serve as a subject matter expert on billing compliance, documentation requirements, and payer regulations. * Advise clinical and program leadership on billing workflows, compliance standards, and revenue cycle best practices. * Manage contract revenue accruals and adoption accrual processes in collaboration with Finance. * Develop, document, and enforce standardized AR policies, procedures, and internal controls. * Review and approve AR team work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to organizational policies. * Lead AR staff through hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and corrective actions as needed. * Prepare and analyze monthly AR reports, including aging, collections performance, and variance analysis. * Support internal and external audits related to billing, AR, and revenue recognition. * Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technology impacting healthcare billing and AR operations. * Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals. Required Qualifications Education: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience: * Minimum 5 years of Accounts Receivable experience , preferably within healthcare, behavioral health, human services, or similar environments. * Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience overseeing AR or billing teams. * Strong knowledge of billing cycles, collections strategies, cash application, and revenue recognition. * Experience working with multiple funding sources (counties, school districts, managed care, government payers). * Proven ability to manage high-volume AR operations and complex payer requirements. Skills: * Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. * Effective leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities. * Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Preferred Qualifications * Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or human services organizations. * Demonstrated success in improving AR processes, reducing aging, and strengthening internal controls. * Track record of improving cash flow and operational efficiency.
